Description Micro Fiction: Nadia

From an early age both boys and girls are specially selected to serve their nation as patriots. They are taken from their homes and trained with various skills like foreign languages, athletic feats, and social skills for all levels of society in many different nations. Some people call them spies, but the children see it as a chance at a new and better life. Certain children who are particularly skilled are allowed to lead lives outside the homeland and only work when requested. One such girl was considered the best. She jumped through the ranks faster than anyone in the past. Her name was Nadia.
Nadia was found in a village hundreds of miles from the nearest city when she was just six years old. Her parents couldn't care for her due to their lack of wealth, and it was considered an honor to have your child chosen to work for the government. She didn't mind leaving, though she would miss her mother and father greatly, she knew she was helping them. In the following fifteen years she became the number one agent and was assigned to the North American Colonies. There were only two other agents from the Red Children who worked in the colonies not that she was ever allowed to speak with them. It was lonely work, but it suited her. She was able to live so many different lives, rich or poor, the house wife, the mistress, the business woman, the prostitute, the student, all of them so different from the last and no one ever knew. She killed rarely, her job was mostly for gather information.
Then after a year of living in the colonies she received her worst assignment. There was a congressman who worked with the CIA closely on projects the public knew nothing about. He was straight laced man, handsome by most standards, and in his mid-thirties with the most lovely dark blue eyes Nadia had ever seen. It started out as a normal intelligence gathering mission, but things became complicated very quickly. After only a few months she got pregnant. She assumed for sure that her superiors would want her to end the pregnancy so she could end the mission when needed, but they didn't. Her fast paced life style came to quick halt, they wanted her to go deep under cover, to become a sleeper. Nadia couldn't question the orders so she did. She became the congressman's secret lover, and gave birth to a baby girl. Until  that moment everything was fine, it was a mission and she would just fade away when the time came, but this...this tiny little dark haired blue eyed thing was a tether. A link to weakness, to this peaceful time, to this careless mistake, to this unending happiness, and it couldn't continue.
She tried so many times to leave them both. Her orders were clear to become a sleeper, gather intelligence when something was important, but his time in congress was drawing to a close. He wanted to spend time with her and the baby, to have a real family. There was nothing more she could gain from him, her superiors would understand. Every time she started to leave little Sonya would do something new, the first time she coo-ed, the first time she laughed, the first time she rolled over. Everything that child did nailed her down. Nadia was a failure to her countrymen. Things had to end or she could never show her face to her fellows again.
After a year she bundled up little Sonya, erased their presence from the congressman's life, and left in the dark of the night. It hurt her to know how devastated he would be, how angry he would become, the confusion he would feel, but it was what needed to be done. Sonya needed to be safe too. If identity was ever discovered Sonya would be targeted immediately just for being related to her. If the colonies didn't target her, then the Red Children would. This was their goal she was sure of it. Nadia had become too good. She was a threat just as much as she was an irreplaceable asset. Sonya was their only way to control her. She deserved safety and freedom, and the only way that was going to happen was if she was with someone else. She sat the baby down with a small letter only stating her name, and that was the last time she saw her little girl. She would never know how much Sonya would experience in her life, and the love her mother always held for her.
