Description Giving those basic animation exercises another shot, this time with a better view and understanding of why I'm doing them and how they can help. For comparison, here's one of my old versions of this

I've lost track of the amount of different variations of this it took me to be satisfied that I've learned enough from this exercise. I've done at least 10 passes of this animation, playing with the timing, spacing, and exaggeration, and I've learned something new each time. This is far from perfect, but I'm relatively happy with it, and understand how to fix the flaws I see if I were to redo it. I would definitely move that extreme stretch frame to be before the squash instead of after it, to give the contact more impact. I'd also extend the ease to make it feel a little less like the ball's hitting the ceiling. And obviously, the shadow needs a lot of work, I didn't really focus on it at all. Instead of a very sloppy moving hold, I would do a proper animation, with it growing and shrinking depending on how far the ball is from the ground, and I'd fix the consistency a bit.

Aside from those point, anybody have any other thoughts or criticism for this?

Side note I'm in love with this pencil brush, it has such a nice feel to it, it's great for animation, and it works well for both sketches all cleanup for me because I don't like my cleanup to be hyper-smooth and flawless, I like it having a bit more roughness and personality.

I'm sorry I should have shrunk this to 720p instead of 1080

Ugh why won't dA let me post this in the Digital Art > Animation category?? SWF's so much more convenient to post and view on dA, but this isn't a flash animation

This is awesome! Really great. Personally I would have emphasised the 'squish' as the ball lands and altered the circle of shading below (It stayed the same no matter what the ball did) But overall, this is quite good!
