Description
This is a refined version of that drawing I published some months ago. Based on skeletons, a photo of a wisent and cave paintings for the fur. The Steppe bison was somewhat intermediary in build between Wisent and American bison, and it is believed to be an ancestor of both species (hybridization played a role in the case of the Wisent as well). Genetics suggest it is closer to the American bison than to the wisent, therefore I think calling it "Steppe wisent", as it is done so often, is unjustified.
