Description This is a character portrait done for the Pixelbrush Event. I didn't get to finish on time, but finished nonetheless. I used to paint and draw conceptual artwork like this when I was a teenager all the time...(and played way too much Castlevania!) It's not serious work, but I don't need 'formal dinner' all the time!

Real Name: Ethelinde Gudruna
Current Identity: Atanasia Zaharia
Bloodline: Lamia
Disciplines: Mortis(Paths: The Grave's Decay, The Corpse in the Monster, Cadaverous Animation), Deimos (Now the Path of the Four Humours), Fortitude, Potence

Now I can continue with my other pieces...

This has been one of my favorites for a long time. I just keep forgetting to look you up on DA and tag you! Have you ever played Vampire The Masquerade perchance?

Cool! Were you into the tabletop version with friends or did you play the computer games? I played Dungeons and Dragons both way but only played VTM on the computer. Bloodlines was my favorite.

This is a really great work. You chose the colors well.

It's a shame the Cappadocians were exterminated, they are my favorite Clan.

Didn't they become the Harbingers of Skulls? I definitely love the clan and the bloodlines Thank you!

Yeah, supposedly they fragmented into a bunch of different groups. The lore became really messy after a while.

To be honest, the most amazing thing are the foldings of her clothing in her knees! Damn! they're so realistic, simple and truthful, fair enough to perfect resemblance!

OH MY GOD *SCREAMS*

This is damned beautiful!!! She's looks really really regal. Fantastic piece of work! I'm so struck and dumbfounded that I can only use simple superlatives to describe this one!

How the heck did I miss this for a month!?

She is sneaky! Probably hid around you for all that time

Thank you! I'm quite happy with this one, it was very experimental. I'm gonna be working on this style more often with oils instead of digital in the future...

KaynessArt [2007-03-22 22:23:36 +0000 UTC]

by the way, is she an albino?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

oz-haver In reply to KaynessArt [2007-03-22 22:30:45 +0000 UTC]

Nope. She's just german, dead and blonde. I could've made her hair darker, etc. but the colors would change my palette (greyish purples/beiges + orange + blueviolets/indigos). I treated this one as negative and positive space, besides they are both sort of dead... dead looking skin wouldn't hurt (I usually make the lush fresh pink ones!). She looked healthier when she was alive.

But in a way, aren't vampires sort of albino-ish? They sure have sun-problems. Oh wait, she has some death magicks to countereffect that. teeeheeee

This won't be the last time I illustrate her- even though we both know I dislike making simple illustrations (unless I'm paid).

KaynessArt [2007-03-22 22:23:13 +0000 UTC]

cool a new painting from Ozzy! I dig her beautiful face but in contrast her skinny, hag-like hands and the painterly effects especially on the top-right hand part of the painting! the details on her clothes is nothing less than I normally expect from you.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

oz-haver In reply to KaynessArt [2007-03-22 22:27:31 +0000 UTC]

LOL! I'll work on her left hand tonight. I was just tired of looking at her. I had to re-angle the corpse's head. She's from the Lamia bloodline, which comes from the Cappadocian (basically the anorexic dead looking vampires). The Mortis Discipline has many Death related paths, so she can take on many characteristics (even pass off as a dead corpse, make homunculus, etc.) So I'll try to keep the painterly in the background...but it won't change much as it is basically 98% finished. Thank you!

I like the way you did the concept with the corpse leaning over her lap without that it would like a middle ages style painting with a too pale duchess...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

oz-haver In reply to ebell1 [2007-03-22 17:20:05 +0000 UTC]

funnily, she is a Duchess by birthright. o.O and yes, I was going for the middle ages 'portrait' look. Very observant!

who knew an orange and blue scheme is soo 'goth'.. lol. Wow the details on the pearls!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

oz-haver In reply to aud [2007-03-22 17:12:45 +0000 UTC]

lol see? goth is beyond colors!

pearls= make dark dot, make a very strong highlight little dot, perhaps a curving bottom line and voilรก. The key is to make them one by one so you have defects and that way they look more natural. I didn't spend much time on them, I was more careful with the other pearls I painted in the TROFHILTSIS piece.
