Description Here recently I got a big beautiful book full of handmade watercoolor paper, and I plan on filling it up with scenes from dreams and imaginary places, as well as whatever else I feel like putting in it. I plan on it all being general themed (so I can show it off to anybody) so like.. No naughty dreams, or visions lol and.. Unfortunately no big Bob's comfortable hairy belly exposed as my mattress.

What I've watercolor painted on the first page are two scenes from a very involved dream I had about an island. The torii gate was the only thing Japanese throughout most the island, the rest of the architecture was made-up. The top scene is a very distant view of the torii gate which is supposed to be a larger-than-life structure. In the bottom scene, I tried to better show the scale of the gate by zooming in on the right bottom pillar shown in human perspective.

BIG QUESTION. By examining the bottom scene without understanding or refering to the top half, what does the big blue cylinder appear to be to you?

....Most say it looks like a big tank full of murky water, or a wierd waterfall. if you agree, what do you think I should do to make it seem more like a structure made of many wood logs, stone, and painted plaster?

Nice work! And it's very beautiful, now as to the pillar... for multiple logs, try to show the slight differences in structure that it would show. =] Stone can be done by showing light stress cracks around it, light hardly joined cracks. the painted plaster would very much mold to the shape of the underlying objects, so it would convey the logs' shapes and the stone's smooth or craggy form. =]

I was going to say, it did seem rather like a water tank. I'm not sure quite how to amend that, other than perhaps more drastic shading to give it a more solid feel?
