Description By popular demand request *cough cough* I am now uploading a series of photos taken by the brilliant Mr Marcus Lim of [link] The shoot was done at Sydney Supanova, where Marcus so graciously allowed us to drag him out on the grounds for an impromptu shoot. The little preview images he gave us just blew us all away. His work is amazing and we can't wait to get the full set.

I have a serious backlog of photos now so I'm hoping to get them up a bit quicker than before.

Construction Notes:
So, for starters, the inner-most layers are a pair of trousers and a cross-over jerkin. The trims of the jerkin and the pants are from cotton (navy) and the same is used to make the two-half-fingered gloves.

The pattern of the jerkin was based off my Kendo Keikogi, and is made of patterned polyester. The skirt part and the shirt part of the jerkin are two separate bits, with a belt of the navy material covering the joint. The fur trim is a tube of 2" pile white fur.

Next comes the "chaps" which are made of sky-blue polycotton with a white bias-tape trim and chainmail. The chainmail was made following a technicque I found on the internet using plastic binding coils, when I do my tute I'll linky it!

With the capelet/leather pauldrons, I made them out of navy suede and trimmed again in the white fur. To reduce the seam-lines in the suede, the edges were folded under using foam-mounting tape .The symbols on the shoulders were made from "sculptamold" and painted, the one on the chest was sculpted out of hot glue and then painted! Wierd I know but it worked really well!! The silver bit was rub-and-buff.

The boots are straight blue vinyl bootcovers. I'm also wearing a choker that was assembled from 16 shapes based on a square-faceted jewel cast from a cardboard mould from scultamold, painted and then hot-glued to a thick ribbon and held by eyelets.

The boomerang case and scabbard with their associated belts were made from two-tones of soft pleather to fit their associated items and then buckles were used to hold them in place. The scabbard was then adorned with a plate on the front and a cap on the end using craft foam sprayed gold to match the sword-hilt which Chryso so nicely made for me (check out the sword in other images, it is sooo awesome!!).

the arm-strapping is leukoplast adherent bandages which I later had to tear off my arms to much lost skin! next time might do that differently!!

All the remaining armour plates are craft foam shaped with heat and then painted black and silver over the top, then cotton straps were used to tie them on. The ties were held on with hot glue, but they came away from the foam throughout the day and were repaired with hollywood tape .

I am wearing very subtle blue colour-contacts and my hair was cut up the back/sides to about 1.5" and tied back. I DID grow my hair out for this one, so hopefully I won't be swapping between this and a short-hair cos too quickly!!!

Boomerang is two shapes that I cut out of foam, and annother out of cardboard (slightly smaller) and the whole lot was hot-glued together with an extra cm of foam where the edges arent! The metalic bit is made by painting it black and then smearing rub'n'buff on!

That's about it, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Absolutely beautiful photo! I wish I'd had a professional photographer when I cosplayed Katara at Comic Con this year. Oh well. Your cosplay is simply stunning! The outfit is gorgeous, but I'm loving the boomerang! The painting looks fantastic, nice and faded like a well worn weapon. Great job to both the photographer and cosplayer! <3

Thanks!

Though since you're a katara, I feel obliged to go

Seriously though, I'm glad you like the costume, I can't say much for the photo since that wasn't my work, but I'm glad you liked the boomy
