This guy resides at the Avian Recondioning Center in Apopka. If you ever get a chance, on a Saturday, go over and check this place out it is well worth the time.

I will look into that. My boss is a Falconer as well. He brings his Harris Hawk in all the time. Actually had a Bald Eagle trying to hunt his Hawk this morning. Never a dull moment around here. lol

Thanks Neil, before that shoot I had never seen a Harris Hawk, but you are absolutly right they are certainly a stunning bird. He was a lot of fun to photograph. I look forward to having the opportunity to photograph this guy many more times.

He was a gorgeous bird and very social. He's the only bird that the Falconer could carry under his arm out to the demo site without the bird sinking his talons into the falconer's flesh.

We used ti have a guy around my town that was employed to deal with the pigeons with his Harris Hawk. Unfortunately the Hawk decided one day that it no longer wanted the job and flew off. I think the handler did get his bird back eventually, but I don't think he got another contract

The Falconer at the Avian Center has Astro well trained for hunting, his biggest concern for Astro is to have a Red-tailed of Red-shouldered Hawk kill him as he flys through their territory.
