Not so long, I took a shoot with a camera and used it as a reference.

Gorgeous drawing...very "classic" looking.Β The whole series with the brownie caps is great, in fact.Β Is this from life, or did you use a photo as reference?

I took a photo and used it as a reference, as I mostly do. Or sometimes I draw directly from my imagination. The next step to improve my artistic skills and especially learning to look more sharp could be to draw more directly from the nature, but when one draws children, it is not so easy thing to do so. The series of Β brownie caps was made for the christmas card and because I liked to use my own children, it was necessary to get likeness. Thanks for a comment!

Haha, you mean your kids don't want to sit still for an hour while you draw them?Β I tried that with my wife once and she fell asleep!
I'm starting to do some still life sketches...just stuff we have around the kitchen, because, yes, I agree, drawing from life is a good technique to develop.
