Description
The broad winged (chicken) hawk. They usually fly around hunting birds and even doves all over the hills where I live. I used the binoculars to study this one in a not too distant tree, and I chose this pose because I liked how the feathers on the neck were raised.If you count the hours and the fact that it was mainly mind work, it took approximately an entire day and a half to complete.

This. Is. AWESOME! I love the colors! Just the contrast of blue and orange (my favorite color combination! 
Just the fact that you've taken the time to do every individual feather really amazes me. I have much respect for someone with that amount of patience and attention to detail. Props 
The pose is also very predatory and powerful, too. Nice choice. And don't even get me started on the eye, or I will be fangirling all day.

Oh my GOD!
I didn't realize this piece had such an effect on people. Once upon a time, I showed it to a friend of a friend and she was kind of crazy about it as well, so guess what, I just gave it to her as a gift. Just seeing her joy was payment enough for all the hard work and pain and tears I suffered to create it.. 
So you're just lucky it wasn't you, because it would have been yours.. lol

It's hard for me to let go as well, I feel like a piece of me is taken away, no matter which type of art I do. But there's always the feeling of falling in love all over again when I'm doing the next one.

Yes! That's exactly the feeling! But ya gotta do what you gotta do (No wonder artists are starving if they have to choose between either giving away thier babies or eating... Tough decision!
But it definitely does make you work harder to make up for the pieces that you've lost, I suppose!

is it a painting or a pencil drawing? it kinda looks like pastels almost. i absolutely love birds and the raptors are my favourite, i just love this drawing ,well done mate

i mostly paint stuff with acrylic paints. In fact I've only used pastels once in my entire life lol. But it does look like a drawing. I guess it was my mood and how I applied the paint at the time.

i cant paint so i stick to dry materials such as pastels, so i adore paintings cos i cant do them. Birds are fantastic creatures, thanks for replying Bird Man
