Needlessly dramatic music and "scary" narration?

Well at least they're not House Centipedes.

(The proper reaction to seeing that many House Centipedes is as follows: NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE)

House centipedes are actually not only totally harmless (they're not poisonous and don't bite), they're actually very useful! They mostly eat other, more harmful bugs like bed bugs, termites, ants and cockroaches. Best of all, they'll eat each other as well, so you have no worry of them overpopulating your house.

In fact, the giant red centipedes she's got there are the venomous ones. Of course, their bite won't kill you unless you're allergic or have a weak immune system, and they only live in rainforests.

Hoo boy, I remember those giant red venomous ones from the time I lived in Micronesia.Β  Although as you pointed out, getting stung by one isn't the end of the world, I'm glad I never got one on me - it was reportedly rather painful.Β  ...I wonder if the fur protects her?

Why would they sting her? She is their bestest friend!

As someone who has held a vinegaroon (AKA "tailless whip scorpion") in their bare hands, I just want to give my opinion of being in this scenario in the form of a certain and resounding "NOPE.avi"

Omny87 In reply to dinodude0091 [2014-03-11 01:25:35 +0000 UTC]

"Vinegaroon" is such a weird name for a bug. It sounds more like some kind of cookie.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dinodude0091 In reply to Omny87 [2014-03-11 05:12:51 +0000 UTC]

The name actually comes from the fact that it shoots bitter-tasting vinegar out of it's backside and into the mouth of anything that tries to eat it as a defense mechanism. Β And it's an arachnid, not a bug (True Bugs are a very specific Order of Insects). Β Here's more info on them:Β en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thelypho…

TheMPL172 In reply to dinodude0091 [2014-03-17 12:52:23 +0000 UTC]

That's strange.... Are you sure it's vinegar? According to my very limited knowledge of acid-base chemistry, acetic acid shouldn't taste bitter, but I'm probably wrong.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dinodude0091 In reply to TheMPL172 [2014-03-18 20:57:26 +0000 UTC]

Okay, maybe I got it mixed up in my head and the chemical just SMELLS kinda like vinegar. Β Point is, the stuff that comes out of their rear end is nasty and no sane predator would want to eat it. Β

Kindness.

No, seriously, she might have, at one point, been grossed out by some things, but I imagine she just couldn't stand not to show them affection anyway, because she realized that if she didn't than nopony else would.

In the year's since she has acclimated.

for some reason I was under the impression that there was an upcoming episode called "creepy crawlies", but if it was ever planned it has now been discarded. If that's really the case, I'm royally pissed off, because it would have been the perfect opportunity for something like this.
