Description

Soon it will be  Christmas  and the year is drawing to a close. As has been a tradition for me for several years, I take a few weeks off from DA and from creating models. And as it is tradition for me too, a somewhat special picture at the end of the year.

A little review of the last few months and an even smaller outlook for the next year. In this picture here you can see a flight of any Space Operation Command of the United Space Operations Command of the Intergalactic Union of Sovereign Planets on patrol. A flight is the smallest group of capital ships within the IUSP fleet.

This flight consists of a Teldy-Class corvette (standard variant), a Kawalsky-Class frigate, a Vaselov-Class destroyer (standard variant) and a Rya‘C-Class destroyer-carrier.

This flight is led by a Daedalus-Class cruiser from which four F-302δ have just taken off.

I would like to take this opportunity here to write a little description of the fleet organizations of the various factions. So far I have only developed such a fleet structure only for the IUSP and the USOC. So far, I have not given much thought to any of the other factions. But since even the previous description for the USOC is only "head canonical"  to a limited extent, I would now like to correct the USOC description and think about the other fleets.

Perhaps it will be interesting reading material for one or the other. Even if there is a lot of reading material.
But if you don't want to read that much, at the end of each entry I've written a short summary of my concepts for the respective fleets and ships of the respective faction.(italic text)

With this hopefully   somewhat interesting overview, I will say goodbye until next year, when I will probably publish the first picture in the second week of January.
I will of course respond to any of your comments as soon as possible. As every year, the "DA-free time" only applies to my pictures and models. Not for my watchers.

So have a nice    Christmas  , see you next year.

Intergalactic Union of Sovereign Planets:

The United Space Operation Command (USOC) is both the IUSP's space fleet and the supreme command of that space fleet. Three Territory Space Operations Command (TSOC) are subordinate to the USOC. One TSOC is responsible as a subordinate command staff for the Milky Way, one TSOC for the Pegasus galaxy and one TSOC for the remaining six galaxies on which the IUSP is distributed.

The individual fleets in these galaxies, which are referred to as Space Operation Command (SOC), are subordinate to the TSOCs:

45% of all SOCs are standard Space Operation Commands (the actual SOCs),that is, Operation Commands with an average number of carriers and battleships

30% of all SOCs are Patrol Space Operation Commands (PSOC), that is, Operation Commands without carriers and without battleships (exceptions are the Rya'C-Class destroyer-carrier hybrids (correct classification: patrol-carrier) and the Asgard-Class that I had to reclassify to battleships, but more on that next year)

25% of all SOCs are Heavy Space Operation Commands (HSOC), that is, Operation Commands with additional carriers and battleships

Another difference between the commands is: SOCs and PSOCs only consist of 241 capital ships, including the seven Asgard-Class flagships (6 squadron flagships + 1 SOC flagship), whereas an HSOC has 265 capital ships, including the Asgard-Class Ships

Overall, the USOC is divided into:

1 USOC → 3 TSOC → 1800 SOC (all three SOC variants counted together) → 10800 wings → 21,600 squadrons → 86400 flights

The nominal total strength of the USOC is 450,000 capital ships (actually 446,760), with 9,908,640 space fighters stationed on the various carriers and cruisers. In addition, there are also the fighters stationed on the various bases and space stations. (a number greater than the number on the carriers and cruisers)

The Intergalactic Marine Corps (ICM) also has its own spaceships.
The ICM is divided into 360 Marine Operation Forces (MOF). A MOF consists on the one hand of the planetary armed forces of the ICM, which also include the ICM contingents on board USOC capital ships.
On the other hand, an MOF also includes the space fleets belonging to the ICM, the Marine Carrier Groups.
A total of ten carrier groups, four battle carrier groups (BCG) and six support carrier groups (SCG) belong to a single MOF.
The core of every BCG is a Pah‘Mont-Class Assault-Carrier (battleship-carrier-hybrid), the core of every SCG are two Rya‘C-Class patrol-carriers (destroyer-carrier-hybrids).
In addition, there are several destroyers, frigates and corvettes as escorts for the carrier, so that each carrier group consists of a total of 20 spaceships.

And finally the System Defense Forces (SDF).
These are the defense fleets that are subordinate to the respective planetary governments in peacetime. On the one hand, the SDFs serve to defend their home system, which also includes patrols in directly neighboring, uninhabited solar systems.
Then there are the tasks that in real life are not performed by the military but by law enforcement and customs authorities.
Each so-called Category- III-World has the right to its own SDF and as the strongest ships, SDFs may only use ships of the destroyer or patrol carrier type. But, the numerical size of an SDF depends only on safety concerns and economic and industrial possibilities and needs.
The variety of SDFs ranges from the Hebridan-System with its 1000 capital ships to the Chulak-System and the Aton'nefer-System (aka Sol-System), which officially have no SDFs.
Chulak as the capital of the IUSP is of course defended by the federal armed forces. Anything else would be dishonorable.
In the Aton'nefer-System there are actually fewer federal troops than on Chulak, but here is the headquarters of the IUSP research fleet Space Explorer Corps (SEC), of which up to 2000 ships are constantly in the area around Tau'ri (Earth) and Neterdewaj (Venus) are. These ships are relatively heavily armed, about the level of a destroyer, and in the event of a crisis they participate in the defense of the Aton'nefer-System.
The tasks of an SDF in relation to law enforcement and customs are actually taken over in the Aton'nefer-System by the police and customs, which are equipped with B-303 and B-305 for these tasks.

Summary: the USOC prefers spaceships with maximum redundancy, which means that not only several replacement devices are installed (e.g. several fusion reactors as an energy source), but these devices also represent different technologies (Tau‘ri Naquadah reactor, Asgard fusion reactor, Ancient ZMP (reconstructed) in addition, the USOC, as the federal military, relies on the Tau‘ri design for spaceships, while the SDFs use completely different designs, each with their own advantages and disadvantages, quasi redundancy at the fleet level
The fleets themselves are relatively evenly distributed over the IUSP territory, there are hardly any priorities in distribution, the fleets are medium-sized, the bases are relatively strong, if an enemy defeats a fleet, dozens of fleets are available elsewhere for a counterattack
Tactical alignment is the interaction of different types of ships with different characteristics from different distances, the tactical focus is on the cruisers, the remaining ships support the advance of the cruisers through the enemy lines

Free Jaffa Nation:

The nation's space fleet, the Jaffa Nation Navy (JNN; Goa‘uld: Jaffa Telpalpri Meya), has a much less strict structure than the USOC.
The structure of the JNN can best be described as a pyramid.

The Milky Way is divided by the Jaffa Nation into 12 military districts (Goa‘uld: Taka‘tana), corresponding to the number of members of the High Council of Dakara.
Thus, each military district is subordinate to one of the 12 members, the respective council member is nominally commander in chief of all military in his district. For the actual command work, each council member is assigned a First Fleet Prime (Palem Prime Meya) and a First Army Prime (Palem Prime Tel). These First Prime, together with their command staff, take over the actual control of the units under their command, but are at all times accountable to the High Council in general and to their respective "Commander in Chief" in particular.

Each military district is in turn divided into 6 military sectors, and these sectors in turn are divided into 5 military regions each.
The headquarters of the individual fleets are subordinate to the military regions, the number and distribution of the fleets is constantly adapted to the respective military situation.
The military sectors are commanded by the Second Prime and the military regions by the Third Prime. The fleet headquarters are commanded by Fourth Prime, Fifth Prime, etc., depending on the size of the respective fleet.
There are no clearly defined fleets within this structure. Instead, depending on the tactical and strategic situation, the ships are divided into groups of the required size and assigned to one of the permanent headquarters on one of the fleet bases. A division into 1st fleet, 2nd fleet, etc. is therefore not known in the JNN. The fleets are usually named either for the location of their headquarters or for their commanders. There is also no fixed composition of fleets. The number of corvettes, frigates, etc. in a fleet is always adapted to the military situation.

The only fixed number in this fleet structure is the number of capital ships per military district, which must not exceed 43,800 ships.

So the overall structure is:

High Council of Dakara → 12 military districts → 72 military sectors → 360 military regions → fleet headquarters

The nominal total size of the Jaffa Nation Navy is 525,600 capital ships with 13,665,600 death gliders on board. Then there are the death gliders stationed on the planetary bases and on the space stations

Summary: The JNN prefers the late Goa'uld-era design, the technology (shields, weapons, propulsion systems, sensors, computers) is absolute standard and mediocre in all respects, with no great advantages or disadvantages, speed and maneuverability is slightly preferred over heavy Armor and shields, the staff canons have small calibers with lower firepower, but high rate of fire
The fleets are strongly concentrated on relatively few strategic points, sometimes several thousand capital ships per base, the solar systems with bases are massive fortresses (minefields, defense satellites, space stations, prepared positions for the defenders), from these fortresses, the JNN can attack enemy fleets, an attack on one of these fortress solar systems is only successful for enemy fleets with extreme casualties
Tactical orientation is the cooperation of different types of ships with different characteristics in combat from a medium distance, the tactical focus is on the battleships, the remaining ships support the advance of the battleships through the enemy lines

Free Jaffa Empire:

As with the Jaffa Nation Navy, the fleet structure of the Imperial Jaffa Navy (IJN) is pyramid-like. For political reasons, however, the IJN is more firmly structured than the JNN. In return, the IJN has a less clear command structure.

The IJN is divided into three more or less independent unit types:

1. the Ulan'oberoh, the Guard of Senun'Nai, the Supreme Imperial System Lord and nominal commander-in-chief of all Imperial forces. The Senun‘Nai is supported in his authority by the Taldumet, the Supreme Lord of the Fleet, a kind of chief of the supreme fleet staff, who is the highest military man and carries out the day-to-day work.
The Ulan'oberoh practically represent the federal troops of the empire, but also include various special forces of the empire.
Overall, the Ulan‘oberoh are divided into seven units:
Qu Dutelna , Talpalna Dutelna , Talkek Dutelna , Qukek Dutelna , Ruellna Dutelna , Dutelna Dutelna and Paltalna Dutelna.
(Red Snake,    Orange Snake,    Golden Snake,     Green Snake,       Blue Snake,        Indigo Snake    and    Violet Snake)

295 capital ships are available to each of these task forces.

The Ulan'oberoh are an Empire-wide fast response force, but they also operate beyond the borders of the Empire. The seven different sub-units set different priorities in their operations.
For example, the Talkek Dutelna (Golden Snakes) specialize in hostage rescue, while the Qukek Dutelna (Green Snakes) specialize in planetary landings and taking enemy positions.
The Senun'Nai relies on the advice of Talital Prital'met (Goa'uld for "Council of the System Lords") and Talme Metal'met (Goa'uld for "Council of the Little Lords ") when deciding whether to deploy his guard.
(In fact, this two councils are the two chambers of the imperial parliament and their "advice" is binding on the Serun‘Nai)

2. the Emtelna'oberoh, the guards of the 158 system lords, the members of the Talital Prital'met.
These local guard units have the same tasks as the Ulan‘oberoh, so they are f fast response forces.
But, these guard units are exclusively limited to the “provinces of their masters”. Outside their respective province they are only allowed to be active on the orders of the Senun'Nai, who for this order must also seek the "advice" of the Talital Prital'met and Talme Metal'met.
Like the Ulan ‘oberoh, the Emtelna‘oberoh are also divided into seven sub-units, although the names and strengths of this units differ locally.

In any case, the Emtelna‘oberoh have a total of 648 capital ships at their disposal.

3. the Talqu‘kekdu (Goa‘uld for "fortress units"), are the imperial version of the SDFs from the IUSP. They are responsible for protecting and controlling a particular territory. This can be a single solar system. As a rule, they are responsible for up to ten solar systems in a very limited area of space. However, these units are only partially subordinate to the local planetary governments. Legally, they are directly subordinate to the Senun'Nai and the two councils. However, local governments have a say in the use of the Talqu‘kekdu.

Each Talqu‘kekdu has 1417 capital ships at its disposal.

The nominal total size of the Imperial Jaffa Navy is 328,335 capital ships with a total of 8,536,710 death gliders.

Summary: the IJN prefers the design of the early Goa'uld era, the technology (shields, weapon, propulsion system, sensors, computers) is absolute standard and in every respect mediocre, without great advantages or disadvantages, the IJN prefers slightly thick armor and Shields against speed and maneuverability, the Staff Canon have large calibers with great firepower, but low rate of fire
The fleets of the IJN are even more concentrated than those of the JNN, on a few strategic points, with at least a thousand capital ships per base, the solar systems with bases are extremely massive fortresses (minefields, defense satellites, space stations, prepared positions for the defenders) from these fortresses, the IJN can attack enemy fleets, an attack on one of these fortress solar systems usually means complete annihilation for enemy attackers
Tactical orientation is the cooperation of different types of ships with different characteristics in combat from a medium distance, the tactical focus is on the battleships, the remaining ships support the advance of the battleships through the enemy lines

Covenant of the Liberated Celestis:

As with the Jaffa Nation Navy, the Libertarian Guardian Fleet has a rather loose structure. Every world of the CLC that houses at least one of the great monasteries of the CLC, a Antcleer, is entitled to set up a fleet. Because these Antcleers are the basis of the political structure of the CLC and represent the parliaments of the CLC, which have political control over the fleets.

According to the IUSP criteria, this criterion applies to all C-IV worlds of the CLC, this is a total of 3047 worlds of the CLC.

The fleets are subordinate to the Priarches, the heads of these monasteries, who, as heads of the Antcleers, de facto correspond to the planetary "presidents of parliament" of the IUSP.

According to a special distribution system, these worlds are obliged to provide the Provincya, the higher-ranking institution in the political system of the CLC, with a certain contingent of spaceships for tasks at the Provincya level. The same obligation then applies to the Provincya towards the Dioaecesy, as well as the Dioaecesy towards the Praefaectury. The Praefaectury ultimately make ships available to the Praetoryn, the federal government of the CLC. These detachments are limited in time, depending on which institution makes the ships available to which institution.

And the worlds that make these ships available always have the right to be accountable for their use. In order to avoid misuse of the fleet detachments, all institutes are therefore obliged to report annually about fleet operations. Accountability applies both to the institution that provides the ships and to the political institutions of the own administrative level as well as to the next higher-ranking institution.

A Priach, for example, is accountable to his Antcleer, who represents the people of this world, but is also accountable to the Amiantin.

The accountability system is as follows:

Antcleer←→ Amiantin←→ Omantad←→Aminesadtia←→ Aminesadant

The number of spaceships that a legitimate world uses is not regulated. Due to the enormous firepower of the LGF ships, however, an “too large” number of spaceships can quickly make those responsible suspicious.

On average, 117 capital ships are available to the most of the worlds.

The nominal size of the LGF is 356,499 capital ships with (average) 8,555,976 Cherubim drones and 2,138,994 Seraphim space fighters on board.

Summary: the LGF uses replicas of the Ori ships, but the technology (shields, weapons, propulsion system, sensors, computers) mostly does not correspond to the technology of the ascended Ori, it is Milky Way standard technology, with a focus on a powerful energy source, as well strong armor and shields, but low speed and maneuverability, the plasma turrets all have quite large calibers, especially the main guns, with correspondingly high firepower with a low rate of fire
The fleets themselves are relatively evenly distributed over the CLC territory, there are hardly any priorities in distribution, the fleets are small-sized, the bases are relatively weakly fortified, with a few space stations and defense satellites, as the extreme firepower of the ships alone is sufficient for successful defenses
tactical orientation is the cooperation of different types of ships with similar characteristics as well as the fight from a greater distance, the tactical focus is on the battleships, the remaining ships support the advance of the battleships through the enemy lines

Lucian Alliance:

The Lucian Alliance basically follows the same principles in its fleet structure as the Covenant of the Liberated Celestis. In one respect, however, the alliance goes one step further than the covenant.

Every, really every world in the Alliance has the right to set up its own fleet. In practice, of course, not every world can afford this, or most fleets consist mainly of Siza-Class corvettes and Mirrin-Class frigates with a few Olan-Class destroyers. This concentration on rather small, agile and fast ship classes corresponds to the overall fleet doctrine, which is based on agile and fast ships with relatively little firepower, instead of a few heavy units with great firepower, such as the Covenant.

First of all, the fleets are subordinate to the respective planetary parliaments.
Like the Monastyre in the Covenant, they have to make ships available to the higher-ranking institutions.
The order in the Lucian Alliance is:

Planetary Parliament → Sector Committee → Federal Government.

Accountability in the Alliance is similar to that in the Covenant, but it is broader, as any institution, starting with the city council, can demand accountability:

City Council ← District Council ← Continental Parliament ← Planetary Parliament ←→ Sector Committee ←→ Federal Government.

In contrast to the Covenant, these transfers of ships are fundamentally permanent, but the institutions that make the ships available have the right to reclaim their ships.

On average, most solar systems in the Lucian Alliance have fleets of 90 capital ships or less.

Due to the large number of worlds a fleet can have, the Lucian Division for Protection and Defense is one of the largest fleets in the local group with a total of 457,200 capital ships.

These are mainly corvettes, frigates and destroyers. Cruisers and battleships are special forces at the Sector Committee and Federal Government level that only a few worlds build.
They are a kind of fire brigade that provides support where support from heavy and extremely heavy units is needed.
Carriers are "location-bound" and serve exclusively for the defense, especially of militarily, politically and economically particularly important worlds

Summary: the LDPD primarily uses its own technical developments, the technology (shields, weapon, drive system, sensors, computer) corresponds to standard Milky Way technology, with an emphasis on drive systems, extremely high speed, acceleration and maneuverability, but only mediocre armor and shields, The plasma gun turrets are all quite small in caliber, with correspondingly low firepower and a very high rate of fire
The fleets themselves are extremely evenly distributed over the LA area, there are hardly any priorities in the distribution, the fleets are small, the bases are relatively weakly fortified, with a few space stations and defense satellites, the tactical orientation of the LDPD extremely strong on mobility in combat oriented
Tactical orientation is the cooperation of different types of ships with the same characteristics as well as combat from different distances, the tactical focus is on hit-and-run attacks by frigates and destroyers, the remaining ships support the advance of these medium-sized ships through enemy lines

Motahed Hokumat Majabooto:

The Majabooto Sentinel Armada is a centrally commanded force. The high command is distributed to all three rulers of the Hokumat. Both the Kabir Malakeh and the two Malakeh are considered to be commanders in chief. The three rulers exercise this supreme command in coordination with the two chambers of the Sansad (parliament), with the Jalaseh as the first chamber mainly controlling the domestic political aspects, in particular the finances, while the Ghar as the second chamber traditionally focuses on the foreign policy aspect.

The MSA is divided into three "military branches":

the Keshik Guard Fleet, the Nabardikaee Battle Fleet and the Madadartesh Sentinel Fleet.

The Keshik correspond roughly to the IUSP's Marines Corps. An elite unit mainly (75% of all Keshik) deployed to protect the royal and imperial families, these women are also responsible for protecting all public buildings such as palaces, parliament buildings and ministries. But also for the escort of important ship convoys.
The rest of these troops (25%) are used for commando operations such as hostage rescue, boarding enemy ships and close combat in planetary invasions.
The Keshik prefers Sakht / Ghush-class shuttles, Sarheshi-class frigates and Sayad-class destroyers for their tasks. A few Sarakaar-class cruisers are also available.
However, these cruisers are custom-made, in practice they are carriers, for the transport of the Sakht / Ghush-Class Shuttle. The Keshik ships make up about 15% of the Majabooto Sentinel Armada.

According to the MSA fleet doctrine, Shaasak-Class Carrier and Sarvar-Class battleships are only used in space battles and for attacks on hostile worlds with strong defenses. Responsible for this is the Nabardikaee, the military branch to which all carriers and battleships of the MSA are solely subordinate. The ships of the Nabardikaee make up less than 10% of the Majabooto Sentinel Armada.

Most of the Majabooto Sentinel Armada, 75% of all fleets, are subordinate to the Madadartesh. The Madadartesh are also responsible for the Hokumat's military space stations. This part of the MHM military is therefore responsible for the everyday tasks of the military and is therefore also the military branch which, in addition to the usual female soldiers, also uses most of the male soldiers.
Border patrols, orbital defense, countering smugglers and pirates.
For this purpose, all MSA ships up to and including the Sarakaar-Class cruisers are subordinate to the Madadartesh.
Exceptions are the units that are subordinate to the Keshik.
Likewise, all shipyards and the orbital defense facilities are subordinate to the Madadartesh.

With 26,400 capital ships, the Majabooto Sentinel Armada is truly a mediocre power.

Summary: The MSA mainly uses its own developments, the technology (shields, weapon, drive system, sensors, computers) hardly corresponds to the standard technology of the Milky Way, the focus is on gravimetric systems, both for the drive and for the weapons,
Speed, maneuverability, strong armor, and shields all have the same meaning in ship design
The fleets themselves are relatively evenly distributed over the small number of colonies, there are hardly any priorities in the distribution, the fleets are medium-sized, the bases are relatively strong, if an enemy defeats one fleet, other fleets are available for a counterattack elsewhere
Tactical orientation is the cooperation of different types of ships with different characteristics as well as the fight from very great to at most medium distance, the tactical focus is on the battleships that fight in close formation, the so-called "combat wall", the remaining ships support the battleships, in which they repel enemy attacks at medium and short range

Ebastana Treaty Association aka Genii Protectorat:

The ETA follows the militaristic tradition that stems from the original Genii protectorate, but which shaped all member worlds in the 4th century AJR. To the present day, the second chamber of the ETA Parliament, the Conference of Commanders, consists of the commanders of the main military units, both fleets and armies.

The Conference of Commanders consists of 840 most experienced officers from the ETA military.
Every 2.5 earth years, 50% members of the conference are re-elected for a 5 year term. After these elections, this institution elects the commanders of the individual fleets and armies of the Ebastana Treaty Association as well as their deputies from its own ranks.
The ETA area is divided into 210 military boroughs, so that after this selection 210 of the conference members will take their positions as commanders and another 210 conference members as deputy commanders.
So a total of 50% of the members of the Conference of Commanders are required for this task.

All armed forces stationed in the assigned borough, both the Community Protection Fleet and the Community Protection Army Corps, are then subordinate to these officers.
The number of units for all boroughs is standardized. An army corps with 84,500 soldiers and a fleet with a total of 705 capital ships are stationed in each of the 210 boroughs. The army corps is divided into 5 divisions each 16,900 soldiers, the spaceships in 14 squadrons each 50 spaceships (+ 1 flagship + 4 escort ships for the flagship = 705)

With these resources, it is the task of the commanders and deputy commanders to independently fulfill the military and security-related requirements that were drawn up by the General Assembly and the Conference of Commanders. However, every commander / deputy commander is accountable to the Conference of Commanders after 5 years at the latest. In the meantime, these two officers can be dismissed at any time in the event of gross misconduct.

A procedure that has never been necessary in the history of ETA.

The ETA military consists of 210 army corps with a total of 17,745,000 soldiers and 2,940 squadrons with a total of 148,050 capital ships.

Summary: the CPF uses its own developments, the technology (shields, weapons, drive system, sensors, computers) corresponds more or less to the Milky Way standard technology, the focus is on high robustness, the technology is therefore designed to be as simple as possible, preference for stronger armor and shields instead of speed and maneuverability
The fleets concentrate strongly on relatively few strategic points, each base consists of 705 large ships, the solar systems with bases are massive fortresses (minefields, defense satellites, space stations, prepared positions for the defenders), from these fortresses CPF and CPAC can attack enemy forces, an attack on one of these fortress solar systems is only successful for enemy fleets with extreme losses
Tactical orientation is the cooperation of different types of ships with different characteristics as well as the combat from medium distance, the tactical focus is on the battleships, the remaining ships support the advance of the battleships through the enemy lines

Menori Mamentas Tiatasorimenoritia (aka Galactic Trade Confederation) :

In fact, there is no standing federal military in the MMT. The confederate character of the MMT and the jealously protected sovereignty rights of the member worlds make this impossible. The Aaesmentas Mendo is rather defined by a common spaceship technology, consisting of three different spaceship classes and a special weapon technology in three different calibers.
The freighter fleets of the member worlds all use more or less the same technology and, in the event of war, make the ships that use this common AM technology available to the MMT government. To do this, the government must first submit a corresponding application to the confederate parliament, the Fimeneuge tia Tiaeugetas ("Chamber of Commerce").

The only permanent military institution of the Confederate “central government” is a series of command staffs that analyze the current military and intelligence situation and pass on their findings to the “parliament”.

From these analysis reports, Fimeneuge tia Tiaeugetas creates a catalog of tasks every year, in which the tasks such as border patrols, fighting pirates, etc., the location, the period for a task, required spaceships (type, number) and the like are listed. And especially important, the amount of compensation for the cost of performing these tasks (payment). Now every captain of a corresponding spaceship can carry out a task from this catalog and receives the guaranteed compensation (payment) for it. Mostly these are tasks that the freighters can perform in addition to their actual cargo flights.

Due to this political situation, no statement can be made about the total size of the Aaesmentas Mendo. In fact, there is simply no real fleet to name. In fact, there is simply no real fleet to name.

The merchant fleets within the MMT are so large that in the event of a war the MMT can request enough ships from the member worlds that this fleet corresponds numerically to the fleets of the ETA together with the IUSP fleet in the Pegasus galaxy. That would be around 300,000 ships.

Summary: AM uses its own developments, the technology (shields, weapon, drive system, sensors, computer) only partially corresponds to the Milky Way standard technology, AM ships are without exception armed freighters that are exclusively armed with railguns to shoot "Shield-Crusher-Missiles", these have a relatively large caliber, with correspondingly large firepower at a very low rate of fire
There are no federal fleets, the freighter captains fulfill military and security-relevant orders as part-time employment for the MMT, the armed freighters are only subordinated to the MMT government in the event of war until the enemy attack has been repulsed, there are no military bases, however, individual member worlds of the MMT can in some cases have massive defenses
Tactical alignment is the cooperation of three types of ships with the same characteristics as well as the fight from a great distance, the tactical focus is on numerical superiority in order to compensate for the lack of tactical cooperation

United Tribes of Kobol:

After the Twelve Colonies united with the surviving Cylon rebels of the Cylon Civil War, the two wars between the thirteen tribes and the interwar period were analyzed to identify avoidable errors of that time. Something like the genocide of the colonial population by the Cylons should also be prevented in the future. Even with military means.

As a result of the analysis, the new Kobol Defense Force recognized the tendency of the two predecessor fleets to wait practically immobile for an attack in the orbit of their respective worlds in the period between the two Colonial-Cylon wars as the most fundamental mistake.

For the combined armed forces of the thirteen tribes, maximum mobility therefore became an absolute strategic focus.
The BattleGroups (BG) form the basis of the Kobol Defense Force. And these BattleGroups of the Kobol Defense Force are almost “permanently on the move”. Stays at fixed points, for example at space stations, are reduced to the absolutely necessary minimum.
A BG is only in one place for a longer period of time when supplies need to be taken up, when crews need to be replaced or when absolutely unavoidable shipyard visits are necessary, i.e. when a ship is so badly damaged that the damage cannot be repaired with the Resources of the respective BG.

On the one hand, this procedure is intended to facilitate the early detection of potential dangers for the UTK. On the other hand, it should make it more difficult for enemy armed forces to find out the location of the individual BattleGroups and thus to be able to calculate the military strength of the KDF. Potential enemies should never know when, where and how many KDF ships are present.
An enemy of the UTK should always have to fear that several BattleGroups suddenly appear behind the enemy during a fight.

Due to this strategic orientation, the battlestars are no longer the core of the BattleGroups, as in the colonial military, but the basestars of the Hephaestus-Class. When developing this class, the name Basestar was taken literally. In principle, the Hephaestus-Class is an FTL-capable space station, or rather, a FTL-capable repair dock. With the exception of four small hangars and the equipment required for flight and crew, these ships consist almost entirely of factories, workshops and huge warehouses.

In order to further increase the capacity of these flying factories, all technical possibilities of the technology transfer with the Tau'ri have been used in recent years to automate these factories to a high degree. This measure was so successful that it was even possible to afford the luxury of equipping the Hephaistos-Class with a generous habitat module. In other words, an artificial landscape that enables the Hephaestus-Basestar not only to process inorganic raw materials, but also to produce food. On the other hand, the habitat can also be used to regenerate the crews of a BG.

The first BattleGroups of the then still young KDF only had a single Hephaistos-Class basestar as their core. With the expansion of production capacity, BGs can now contain up to three Hephaestus-Class base stars. These are accompanied by the actual capital ships of the KDF.

A standard BattleGroup in the 4th century AJR consists of (maximum number of capital ships):

1x Hephaestus-Class Basestar
2x Zeus-Class Battlestar
2x Athena-Class Battlestar
2x Apollo-Class Basestar
2x Artemis-Class Battlestar
4x Metis-Class Basestar
4x Hermes-Class Basestar
2x Orion-Class Battlestars

additionally the fighters of the carriers

BattleGroups in this composition can be in action for up to 5 years without a single direct contact with a stationary base or even with a planet. The ships could actually carry out much longer missions, but a longer separation of the crews from their homes is avoided for psychological reasons.

A total of 3,024 capital ships belong to the Kobol Defense Force. This number sounds very small and numerically the KDF is actually a very small military power. However, when you factor in the conditions in their home galaxy, Astraeus (also known as Barnard's Galaxy), then the UTK are indeed a great military power and have a very large space fleet. Because in the Astraeus galaxy there are unusually few class-M-worlds.

So the UTK could hardly spread. Even 350 years later, the settlement is mainly concentrated on the 12 colonies of Kobol, the rediscovered Kobol and the world that was falsely regarded by the original Cylons as earth more than 4000 years ago and has since been recolonized as Iniuriam by the UTK. The world known as New Caprica was ceded to the Tau'ri and then to the IUSP to bring this powerful ally closer to the UTK. Literally. There is now a small UTK colony in the Milky Way on the planet Zamia.

Summary: the KDF uses its own developments, the technology (shields, weapons, drive system, sensors, computers) is more or less comparable to the Milky Way standard technology, the focus is set on balance, heavily armored and armed ships with lightly armored and armed ships work together, with the majority being heavily armored units
The fleet is theoretically extremely concentrated due to the small number of inhabited systems, but due to the strategic orientation, 95% of all BattleGroups are always outside the three inhabited solar systems, but these three inhabited solar systems are relatively strongly fortified
Tactical orientation is the cooperation of different types of ships with different characteristics from different distances, but relative close combat (less than one ship length) is preferred, the tactical focus is on the battleships, the remaining ships support the battleships in close combat with strategic fire from a greater distance

EDITlease forgive me! Comments are of course allowed. Unfortunately I ticked the wrong place

EDIT 20.2.2024:
Correction of the composition of a BattleGroup of the KDF. I have created an image of a BG and realized that the old composition does not fit.
