Description Pachyrhizodus caninus, an extinct elopiform from the Niobrara formation of North America. I initially looked to tuna as inspiration (both being large predatory fish with fairly similar bodyplans) but ended up leaning more towards restoring it like modern Tarpon based on its taxonomic standing. I'm thinking of restoring more members of the formation in the future using the same style, particularly more of the interesting looking Actinopterygians!Β

This is absolutely beautiful, Alex! You should think about selling prints if you make more of these. I'd definitely buy a few for my office!

ThanksΒ for the support Cas! I'm definitely considering it! I'm thinking of setting up a redbubble store, I'll let you know when it's open!

Estimates vary, but this species probably got between 2 and 3 metres in length
