Wheeljack (Cybertronian/Pre-Earth form)

Having saw Armada first, I initially mistook this Autobot for Sideways until my cousin corrected me. Speaking of which, there was an Autobot-turned-Decepticon named Wheeljack (who was named Rampage in the Japanese dub, titled Micron Legend).
Wheeljack was one of the very first Autobots in the original 1984 lineup and held the title as the very first Transformer seen onscreen.

Wheeljack was characterized as a mad scientist and recognizable for the fact that his ears glow when he talks.

When his toy was discontinued in 1986, Wheeljack was one of the many Autobots killed in the battle of Autobot City. But then, an error occurred, through the Japanese continuity of G1. In the anime, Transformers Victory, Wheeljack is seen alongside Perceptor and Minerva as they, against Star Saber's orders, rebuilt God Ginrai into Victory Leo. The reason for this was because the 1986 film did not premier in Japan until 1989 and by the time the film was released, the Victory episode Wheeljack was in already aired. So Takara Tomy attempted to rectify this mistake with the Binaltech storyline that accompanied the toyline. This storyline also explained why Prowl (despite being killed off in the 1986 movie as well) appeared in one of Victory's two predecessors, The Headmasters.

After G1 ended, new versions of Wheeljack followed:
1. The aforementioned Autobot-turned Decepticon from Armada
2. A Wheeljack lookalike named Downshift in Energon (though its Japanese dub, Superlink, named him Wheeljack)
3. Wheeljack (AKA Que) from the live action film continuity
4. Wheeljack from Animated
5. A former member of the Wreckers and friends with Bulkhead in the Aligned Continuity
6. The inventor from Cyberverse
7. The mad scientist from Earthspark
8. Wheeljack from the 2018 BumbleBee movie.

Recently, Wheeljack appeared in the 2023 film, Rise of the Beasts. When his design was first revealed, it was NOT well-received by fans who would give him nicknames such as "Pablo" or "Elton John".

Bio:
Wheeljack was once a member of the Autobot Commando Unit, the Wreckers. He was rebellious and shows no respect for authority, especially the Wreckers' commander, Springer. But after a mission gone wrong, Wheeljack quitted the Wreckers and became the top scientist for the young Autobot leader, Optimus Prime. He was still friends with fellow Wrecker Bulkhead, though.

Wheeljack would create weapons and gadgets for the Autobots to use against the Decepticons, although this resulted in injuring himself. His most successful experiment was the creation of an Autobot android named Jazz.

Wheeljack was one of the many Autobots aboard the Ark when it departed from Cybertron.
