Description Pellican in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
We went on the Mola Mola cruise in Walvis Bay and our skipper Nick literally called the pellicans and they would fly/glide beside our boat (called Gambit btw)!
I never imagined them to be such huge birds and it was amazing to watch them fly to gracefully.

I realize that I should have used a faster shutter speed as the wings are a bit blurred, but afterall this photo was taken with my compact camera - I was too afraid to get my dslr wet! It's a pity I didn't bring it along because there really wasn't all that much splashing as I thought there would be, and my dslr wouldn't have run any major risks...

It was a great trip and I advise anyone who is going to go to Namibia to visit Swakopmund and do this boat cruise!

Comments and thoughts are mich appreciated

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THE !!!

wow...this is a great shot! I did not realize that there was a pelican like this in Africa...We have 2 types in the USA...(I think). I see and photo the "brown" pelican here in Florida...I love your photo!

In the dream, I transformed into a water bird so that I could fly across a bay and to a different country to search for someone. It was really cool The light on my white feathers was brilliant bright, other birds laughed and played in the skies above, ships made wakes slowly below.
You are welcome, great photo

Wow, what a great shot - I love the blue background (some might call it sky) - and the pelican's look, as if he assumed he was 'shot'

Definitely a fev
