Happy birthday
These two are her characters Nemyu and Hawa who appear in her drawings, poems and a story. She usually portrays Hawa as a golden spirit/goddess/priestess and Nemyu as a blue mortal longing for her, so I decided to go with that theme as well. The color palette was taken from a photo of a sunset. Water is often mentioned in her poems, so I thought it would be a good idea to use a beach as a setting.

Tuo värimaailma toimii aivan loistavasti, jotenkin tuo sininen on niin valtavan kaihoisa ja sitten taas tuo kultainen jotenkin niin levollinen. Täytynee itsekin käyttää tätä joskus! 
Tuo vesi/ranta-aihekin on niin sopiva!
Kuitenkin tämä on myös sinun tyylisesi piirros, mukava nähdä miltä Hawa ja Nemyu sinun silmissäsi näyttävät varsinkin kun ei varmaan ole mikään helppo tehtävä muuntaa pallopäiset mustanenäni realistisempaan muotoon!
Tulipa tästä jotenkin laimea kommentti, mutta en vain osaa sanoa mitään järkevää. Kyllä tätä tulee vielä katseltua!

Kiitos ja ole hyvä! Helpottavaa kuulla, että pidät ratkaisuistani värien ja aiheen kanssa - väritysvaiheessa alkoi nimittäin tulla pientä pelontunnetta siitä, että tuliko tehtyä liian "surrealistinen" kuva ja kaiken lisäksi toisen hahmoilla. Hyvä, että kaikki lopulta sopi hahmoille!

Nice concept for this drawing, and the same could be said for your friend's characters, too. x) And I like the way that the beach colour is reversed - it just adds solemnness to the atmosphere (it's rare to see such a twist. And boy it works well. x'D)

Thank you! I'm glad to hear the colors work in this picture - I wanted to stay loyal to the characters' original color palettes but I was a little afraid the result would look too 'absurd'. ;v;

That'd be my pleasure. But DW, it's not absurd at all; IMO the reversed colours make thing more fresh. It also contributes to the piece's vibe, so why not? x') Besides, I have seen many, many beach-themed pieces with golden sands and blue seas. So, again, why not flip-flop those typical attributes once in a while? 8D
On a side note, I like Hawa's expression in this one. That really fits her theme as a supernatural being.

That's good to hear! While drawing, I wasn't sure whether to make Hawa's eyes open or not, but eventually decided to use the more "mysterious" expression. I'm glad it worked!
