This reminds me of my grandparents, and how much I have learned from them. Don't ask me how but it does....

The subtle colors are definitely well placed, I especially like the way the backround is done though, blank with just enough of a line to put a point of bearing into the surroundings though not distracting from the character in front. I give it all a big thumbs up. Top hats are cool.

and what happens when all the colour fades away? ...when all the life evaporates through the fabric of time? past. present. future. and times ceases to exist. and everything turns into grey? into one? into... what? so many questions popping in my head. and it hurts.

I'm pleased that you just left him black and white, but gave him a bit of life with the colors. Very sweet. Gives it such a message...It looks like he has something deep on his mind. What an awesome pic.

The more you look at it, the more you like it. Loving the composition, colors and, of course, the way you've catched the old fossile.

what i really love about this is the way the line running through his hat is (to me) somewhat symbolic of a timeline. The hat indicating where he is, his profile/aspect indicating motion forward, and the color/b&w transition on him indicating aging.
this makes me feel old just looking at it. excellent work on many levels.

Very interesting it seems you made that only thing that has life and vibrancy left in it is the clothing and the staff. The old man seems to be slowly fading away from the world of color as his life's journey nears an end. I don't know if that was the imagery you were trying to convey, but if so...very good job.
