I almost didn't put up a Christmas drawing this year. The reason for that is pretty much reflected here. I've been feeling a lot like the girl in this picture, where I'm just NOT getting into Christmas this year.

She's TRYING to get into the spirit of things. She's got the Santa Claus hat on, she's wearing a Christmas sweater, she's got a Christmas tree up, but it's just not doing it for her.

Which is what it's been like for me. I wanted to get my Christmas tree up, but it took me longer to get around to it than I wanted, and tonight I started and got as far as stringing the lights and garland, and I had It's A Wonderful Life on while I was working on it-- a movie I LOVE-- but I just couldn't get into it.

It felt like I was just going through the motions today, and I couldn't get any enthusiasm. I'd blame on the fact that there's been no snow (the ONE time of year I like there to be snow!), or just general holiday blues, but I've been like this for months. That's why I haven't produced much for my gallery this year.

I love to do these drawings, and I always feel great after I finish one (even now my mood is better than it was a few hours ago), but I just don't have the drive to do it. Classic depression, I'm afraid. I've been prone to this before, but it never persisted this long before.

I *WILL* manage to enjoy Christmas, though, once I'm out of this house and off to my aunt and uncle's house. Luckily, I *LIKE* my family, so holidays with them is a pleasant occasion. So it's not all doom and gloom, I'll have a good time tomorrow, despite how lousy my mood is tonight.

Still, again, the act of getting a drawing finished has elevated my spirits a little, and I believe it was helpful to let some of this out, both by depicting my mood and discussing it.

I think I'll finish decorating my tree now, and then curl up and watch a couple movies.

*Update* As I predicted, I did have a very nice time on Christmas. That's by no means a promise that my creative drive will return, but I did have a good holiday. ^_^
