Page 18 Author's Notes: And scene. James tries to explain to Christian what just happened, but finds he can't remember and things he was just seeing things. Apparently, Gavin has managed to give himself a near heart attack and is fluttering his fingers in an agitated manner, demanding Alexis not touch him (really, Gavin doesn't like to be touched). James and Christian leave the library, James still bewildered.

I am so excited for the next page. You all get to meet Allie! ([link] ) Well, and I'll be introducing the other main children at the Asylum ([link] ) and what is going on ... well, read it and see.

Infinite Spiral: Chapter One: Awakening
James Hartwell and Christian Rafferty aren't your average tweens and teens. The two are considered Wicked Children, which means they are a mixture of human and unknown, feared "magical" beings, that have since seemed to disappear. What is in their past? What is in their future? And how does Rory connect to them? Who was that white haired youth? What's next?

Want more? (You know you do, right?)

Why are black-and-white checked floors inherently so malevolent?

You know, I went to undergrad at OU and the infamous Ridges (a former mental institution that is supposed to be quite haunted) had a gorgeous, but creepy main building converted into an art museum that had black and white checked floors. So ... um art reflects life? Hehehe.

And were the tiles all at weird, off-kilter angles? That makes it even creepier.

Um ... that was called I screwed up my perspective on this page. (I will freely admit this was a mistake! Ha!)

It does have a great creeptastic effect, though.

I say it's clearly an intentional effect! CLEARLY!

I'm glad to hear it! We'll see if I can get another page done this week or if it will have to wait until next weekend. This all depends on work/energy.

Thanks--I've wanted a chandelier in this library the whole time but was leery of trying it while my computer was flaky. I think this adds to the vision of what the place looks like without breaking continuity too much. I wish now, though, I'd had this color scheme for the whole scene. It is still warm without the slightly "old timey" look that I decided wasn't working for the end of the scene.

Oh learning ...
