Description
In the dead of night, he struggles with a lingering nightmare of disjointed screams and distorted memories. Simba is paralyzed; his blood curdles at the sight of his father's violent death played over again on endless repeat. Another night swallowed by his demons.Submerged in the visions of his disturbed sub-conscious, Littlefoot knows nothing as to what has struck his furry friend with such silent terror. The best he can do is wait, until his mind releases him from this twisted slumber. Despite not knowing of Simba's stress, he can't help but feel an unconscious understanding of his pain. For he too suffers greatly from his sub-conscious record player.

Yeah, this one is pretty dark, especially how I've described it in the description (sounds like a emo's wet dream) but i hope you enjoy it anyhow.

I like this idea of you taking characters from completely separate properties and putting them together in situations, just for your own pleasure. I sometimes to do that but with Cynder the dragon, Crash Bandicoot, Rayman and the hooded guy from Journey, only because I did it when I was really young and therefore it reminds me of my earlier childhood.

Wow. Wow...This is beautiful! I love the red tone to the top picture, it makes it seem more intense and powerful. And I especially love the red highlight above Littlefoot and Simba. You really captured the emotion well, I think everybody has been saddened by both of the deaths in these movies. Very emotional picture. I love it! Amazing work, as always! I hope I at least come close to your painting skills one day!

Wonderful picture, I love your drawing of Mufasa! Very very close to the original.
So you think Simba would never tell anyone about his tragedy? He apparently didn't tell anything to Timon and Pumbaa, since they had to ask for explanations, but maybe it's because they just didn't bother to insist. Would Littlefoot and Bambi try to pull the words out of him, in your opinion? They seem very close and they're both attentive characters, so I believe they might at least have tried. But generally: would Simba talk about it to a beloved one?

Hmm. Bambi and Littlefoot had similar tragedies. Maybe Simba could open up to them. After they grow up, Simba could explain that Scar was the killer. He can also explain that Scar framed and guilt-tripped him.

I don't know, i think he kept it to himself because he thought it was all his fault, and he didn't want his friends to know he 'killed' his father. So, i'd say he probably wouldn't, but what do i know? Maybe he would with the right perso-er...dinosaur XD

I've always wondered why they never looked more into Simba's experience and feelings about his fathers death in the first movie. Even if it wasn't kid friendly they could have released like a deleted scene about it to satisfy the fans xD
I'm glad they looked at it a bit in TLK2 though o3o Giving him those little dreams and fears that history would repeat itself.
I love how you drew this piece! You can see the horror in Simba's eyes and the sadness and fear by the look on his face! And poor Littlefoot must feel so powerless D: I also love how you showed little glints of red on their skin, as if his dream is practically right there for both of them to see and touch!

One of the most depressing scenes in the Lion King, it feels like you want to cry now when you watch Mufasa falling off the cliff while Simba see's his father's death, that really made Simba get traumatized after that.

And yeah, I'm surprised they didn't dive deeper into Simba's subconscious, I mean... what he witnessed was very traumatic, especially for a little cub like himself at the time. :/

Yeah. The movie was limited on how deep it would go. There are two hints later. Simba has a nightmare in Lion King 2. He has insomnia and nightmare in Lion King 1 1/2. NostalgicChills is very good at going into more depth. Timon and Pumba serve the function of comic relief.Β
Simba is better off than some counterparts. He does manage to survive throughout his story. Hamlet dies at the end of his. Simba manages to survive the takeover of a new male pride leader. In real life a new pride leader kills the cubs. To some extent Simba should be considered lucky.

Yeah, but i can see why they didn't explore his trauma more in the movie/s. The first TLK was somewhat depressing enough without throwing more PTSD into the mix, that's why Timon & Pumbaa had to take up a huge chunk of the third act of the movie just to stop the little kids from crying! XD

But seriously, the description above is both tragic and heart breaking... while also being comforting... like, Littlefoot does in fact know what it's like to watch a loved one die; to be utterly powerless and feel somewhat responsible.
The lighting in this is cold and harsh... the red light is violent and terrifying, but when cast on the night-shading on Simba and Littlefoot... it somehow feels... warm?
I dunno; all I know is this is a stirring cauldron of feels and I love it!

Well, i don't know how long Dinosaurs take to age; i'm guessing 100 years or so. I mostly just wanted Littlefoot to not be too big, otherwise he'd take up too much room.
