Stopping the update tonight here, just shy of 300 (woot! And we're not done yet!).I'll leave it up to you to guess why Zhao burned the scroll.
Maybe he didn't want to leave any evidence? Or perhaps he doesn't want anyone else finding this scroll ever again and getting funny ideas.
Or something totally different.
Page original size 5,5" X 8".
Rough pencils. Grey shading, lettering and word balloons done in Photoshop
These pages done for fun, and also as a good exercise in storytelling and planning on such a long scale, which I had not really done before.
I am not planning on inking, cleaning more or coloring them. I simply do not have the time.
The Avatar universe belongs to Mike, Bryan, Nickelodeon-Viacom-MTV.
All the characters belong to them, but a few of the extras are my own creation.

Ah! This is so much fun to read. Zhao seems like a miner/blacksmith for some reason. Totally not the muscles.
Love how you're treating Azula (she's my favorite character from the show, haha), so fantastic. I can't wait to see more of what happens between Zhao and Nauja's relationship grows and changes.
It's so strange seeing someone like Zhao in such a not-bad-guy role, but it's fascinating and he's still Zhao. You've done such a great job with this! It's such a joy to read, and I can't wait to see more!

Ha ha, Zhao cosplaying different jobs, trying to find the best outfit to display himself at the best advantage.
Actually, most of these pages were done some time ago. I just need to fix and tweak them. The speed is a total illusion, I'm as slow as a slug. I have normal daytime work, so it leaves the evenings to work on these (never in the morning, I just can't wake up).

I could... if I imagined myself at my most hard out and at my most motivated churning out a pencil sketched page within a day.... but you've done a bout 300 which means... 1 a day if it was within a year but still! The fact that you've done so many HAHA it boggles my wee mind haha!

Zhao is good theory: He doesn't want anyone else to find the scroll to abuse the water tribe.
Zhao is evil theory: He wants to be Azula's only source of information.
Zhao is Zhao theory: Impossible to discern motives through given information.

All these theories are in the wrong direction. It's quite obvious that he's burnt a recipie scroll, after some bad experiences with stewed sea prunes.
The whole thing with Azula was a dream sequence brought on by food poisoning.
