Well, whether Moana is in CGI or 2D, my only hope is that she'll be a sympathetic character. And if she gets a love interest, I hope thier romance will be well-written.

Very nice design. I've seen a couple different Moana designs that people done, but this one's one of my favorite

Yea, it's sad that there will be no more 2D animations movies... I was so upset when IΒ heard that Disney had closed their 2D animation studio

I love 2D animation as much as everyone else, but just becauseΒ CGI is the norm these days,Β that doesn't change my fondness and respect towards Disney, or any other animation studio in general. There have been so many fun CGI films in the past few years, and no matter what they come out with, I'll still see any animated film Disney releases. Plus, it's awesome to see that John Muskers and Ron Clements are still getting work.
Great sketches of Moana, by the way! It's hard to say what she'll look like in the final product, but this still looks great nonetheless. Keep it up!

Honestly , I keep picturing Korra from avatar for some reason . Must be the whole ocean and gods thing that's going to be in the movie. I'm more dissappointed that Disney is still doing that whole mumbo jumbo magic crap (which I believe is why The Princess & the Frog was a box office dissappointment, not the 2d), They have move on to 3D animation yet they still are doing 2d stuff that kill it in the first place.

well, computer animation has come very far in terms of creating appealing characters and remaining true to the 12 principles of animation. regardless of the medium, i hope this film provides something special.

I would like to see them do more on a 2D level but that's my personal opinion. Whatever they choose, I am always looking forward to a new Disney movie.
And Moana is no exception. As long as it is as detailed and elegant as the other CG movies (if that is the direction they are going), then I'll be happy with the quality of animation. The story, of course, will speak for itself when we see it.
