What is a birthday? A party, amongst friends and family, with games and gifts?

A birthday is more than just a simple Hallmark card and pretty gift wrap. It is the day you came into the world, and every year on this day we thank the world for your creation, for your existence.

You are more than just a brain, a heart, a vascular system, some flesh, and bones. You are more than just another living creature amongst the google that inhabit this planet. You are... well you. You are the ideas you think each day. You are the emotions you express. You are the memories you create and experiences you gather.

Today you are another year older, but several years wiser. You have grown, girl--as a human, as an emotional being, as a thinker, as a friend, as an artist, definitely as a writer, and even more than I can list.

Please, please, PLEASE! Continue to break those walls! Continue to walk your path. Run when you want to and rest when you need to. Don't let that grandmother of yours or any other burdening figure tie your lofty heart and dreams down. Keep on floating. You'll never sink.

The universe can not house an imagination as gifted as yours. You are an anomaly, I swear. The higher ups must have bestowed upon you secrets men only dream about in our world. I look forward to the day when you share them all. We will all be listening.

Although I don't always remember when or how, I am glad that I met you, dear. May our lives continue to intersect.
