Description
Bitterness hardens over my bleeding heart
Hurt has dried it up into a flaking shell
Throbbing in my chest gives a vague sense of hope
But I'm busy right now fighting voices from Hell

Truth cries through the pain, pleading for me to hear
I nod in agreement, although feeling numb
It takes all I have choosing to be safe
Begging those I love to not let me succumb

Tears are felt deeply yet have hardened stiff
Growing bitter and dry like my hurt within
Remembering to breathe, air flows hollow in my chest
And I forget for a moment what it's like to grin

My heart has scabbed over to cover old wounds
Too deep and too raw for healing right now
I won't remain broken, however far I fall
God will provide mending whenever He will allow
