The truth has finally been revealed...

Mystery Inc is on another case, this one at a seaside resort. It turns out a ghost is stopping surfers from practicing for the big competition in three days. Daphne Blake has entered that competition, so that's how Mystery Inc just happened to be there. So the question is: Who has the most to gain? Is it the old surfer who was forced into retirement by an injury and has a growing resentment ever since? Maybe it's the seafood restaurant owner sponsoring the event, covering up for the fact he ran out of money and can't pay the prize? Or could it have more to do with the armoured car that went missing in the 70's, recently found just below the pier?

After doing some checking down on the beach, Daphne decides to hit the waves. Solving a mystery is no reason to miss practice, and besides this might also lure the ghost out. So she goes to the mystery machine to get her surfboard. Fred and Velma are nearby, talking in hushed tones. She waves to them, but they don't seem to see her. Maybe they found a clue, she thinks, and goes up to them. That's when she hears them. She involuntarily gasps, and that's when they take note.

"She heard us." Velma said, as Fred grabs her. "Tie her up quickly We'll have to get rid of her."

"There won't be any problem convincing anyone that restaurant owner would resort to murder to keep his secret, would there?" Fred asks, and Velma agrees.

"You didn't really think we always just stumbled onto these mysteries, did you?" Velma scoffed as they tied the blue cloth tightly around Daphne's mouth. "It would be way too much of a coincidence. Some, maybe."

"We never even got paid for doing it." Fred threw in. "Well, you and Shaggy didn't. Running this thing, going all over the world like we have... that costs money, you know. We can't all be rich."

"See, you were part of the plan." Velma further explained. "Fred would marry you, get your money, probably kill you or divorce you, whichever one would be more useful. You and Shaggy, you're just the willing dupes we used to make our little scheme more believable. Two idiots who were nothing ore than comic relief and window dressing."

"And we've always gotten away with it." Fred told her in very sinister tones. "Hell, why do you think they always said the same thing when the cops led them away? We put them up to it."

that's right, Fred and Velma were the masterminds the whole time and now they were taking Daphne off to whatever fate they had in mind for her. Since she was in a swimsuit, it would probably be a drowning or something like that.

Despite her situation, Daphne smiled underneath her gag. These two didn't know that she'd been on to them the entire time, that she'd been slowly gathering evidence against them...

and that Shaggy and Scooby weren't the clumsy cowards they pretended to be...
