Retracing her steps through the overgrown waters she frequented years
prior, the girl found herself no longer alone.
Started January 2019 and worked on steadily, and little by little for the following
months through busy periods of time, Not Alone saw lots of change as my
techniques and skills developed. There was a lot of hesitation involved with
this piece, but given the duration of time allowed to work on it, change helped
it grow and turn into the scene seen here. There definitely was a lot to experiment
with here and this concept is one I'd love to revisit and try executing differently
again, some day~

I am such an enormous (no pun intended) sucker for crazy-big creatures, especially underwater ones, so this totally tickled my fancy, and it sure doesn't help that it's rendered so heckin beautifully!! Not to mention Eastern aesthetics? It just keeps getting better! Fantastic as always Nim, this has gotta be in my top favorite pieces from you. : D <33

Fantastic my dear, I love how the lake hides a giant mysterious fish

I really appreciate it Hocrea! That's kind of what I wanted to go for; I was very indecisive honestly, beginning the mood of this piece, but that air of peaceful mystery is one I'm happy with

I love discovering your intentions and work process behind your creations, it really adds another level of depth and value to the drawing itself. The title of 'Not Alone' initially leads me to spot the little swans swimming alongside the boat as well as the giant water lillies (which by the way look so cool!) floating like gentle big guardians. Upon reading your description though it shows me that the girl's memories are also a nice company, it's like you're not alone because your past self is beside you.
And the execution is stunning as always

I honestly wasn't sure if it was supposed to be the boat's reflection or not, but the horizontal lines across it's back match up well enough to look like the boards of the boat to me. *shrugs*
