Description
The first in a series of thematic paintings I hope to do.Gouache on 24x18 bristol.
Please comment with your interpretation. What is happening here? Do you see any symbolism? What is she thinking, if anything? How does the piece make you feel? This is just as much study of how many ideas my imagery could generate as it is an exploration for me.

Wow...this is beautiful. I feel such warmth and peace, like the bright sun of summer. She doesn't seem extremely happy though...I see a lack of contentment on her face. Perhaps she's not resting, but dreaming of summers past and happier days. Beautiful. <3

Love this!
To me the girl has experienced a peaceful death. The white in the piece to me feels pure and clean. She has a good soul. Once her body breaks down the flowers grow from where she once laid. The purity of her being has fostered healthy and bountiful flowers.

Dreaming definitely more than thought. It kind of makes me think of death since her eyes are closed and the flowers are growing out of her. Maybe dreaming about death. Possibly rebirth since the colors are so vivid.

This is unique!
This piece feels very spiritual or magical.
It's like the young woman is very much a part of the earth, a creative spirit.
Maybe she's a goddess who is sleeping.
Or maybe she is a woman who has passed on, becoming the flowers, like the circle of life.

This is a very neat concept! In my opinion, her nose looks a little too pink, but it does give her face some more color... The way you connected the flowers to colorful hair strands looks very cool. Nicely done~ ^^

I see it as a study of life, the flowers form in her dreams, to the point where she doesn't know where the flowers begin and she begins

I like the concept, and the flowers are absolutely gorgeous-but her face looks kind of...flat, almost. Like it has no depth, and it's just 2D. And the recent trend of making noses really red, or really brown, doesn't seem to work with the rest of the style. I don't know-I like it, but it just seems a bit off. Sorry, it's just that I'd want to be told something like that for personal improvement, and I know some people don't, so...sorry. I really love the flowers, though, the way you got the shading, and the kind of...sheer texture and the faded tones, the blue and the almost burgundy shadows that give them dimension and catch attention. And it's that dimension that she lacks.

IMO, instead of thinking I would call that she is dreaming (because of her pose). Dreaming about something nice as flowers.

Needless to say, this is an absolutely stunning piece. I love the vibrant colors and the different shapes of the flowers. I couldn't help but think she was dreaming of what it would be like to shrink very small, and walk through a garden of flowers. The painting reminds me of Alice in Wonderland in that aspect. It has a peaceful mood to it. Overall, you did an amazing job!

This is gorgeous... It almost makes me think of the circle of life.. the girl dies, and eventually turns to dirt. Then flowers grow where her body once was...

The flowers coming out of her hair could represent little brain children of the girl, or it could be the beauty of her hair representing her femininity. It makes me happy at first because of the pretty ness of it but then there's some sort of longing of the girl that seems sort of desperate...huh when someone asks for it I can be deep! Lol
