Makes you wonder why the woman taking care of him hasn't thought of removing the shackle yet, doesn't it? Truth be told, it's a character design accessory more than anything. Thinking too hard about these things only opens Pandora's box.

Yes I know we shouldn't think to hard about this stuff, if we did, every time we saw a final fantasy character design, our heads would explode.
So, I'm not real familiar with this character's backstory although I really like the design, so, did he escape from some dungeon or something like that?
