I am afraid I have to agree with some of the other critiques.
These costumes are absolutely amazing. Without flaw.
I would have liked to see more MUA done on the characters, but that is a personal interpretation as I tend to go for a more primal feel.
The poses a bit lacking, but would have been fine if the presentation were something more.
The backdrop and lighting are what kills it for me. I believe with these powerful colors and costumes that this would have been good on an infinite black (Black backdrop and crush out the low end contrast in post)...
The lighting might have been better if it were closer... Less contrasty and softer (I know, that is counter-intuitive, but as your light is pulled back, it becomes more of a point source and hardens up shadows)... either that or with a diffuser. ([link] )
I know that it might not have been possible, but an interesting approach might have been to light each character with their own key, and leave the fill the same on all... That would have allowed you to get a different feel on each one...
Different composition might work well, too... Like a family portrait pose... or individual shots in an urban environment (Like an alley way) with the location dressed for each season.
I know a lot of what I have said is subjective, but they are what comes to mind.

I cannot fault the costumes at all. They are flawless and beautiful. Each is different and uniquie and clearly identifiable as to which season it's representing. Though Summer's costume is a little bland when compared to how intricate and detailed the others are.
That said, the presentation of these costumes is what lets it down. Is there any particular reasn you chose to stand Winter, Autumn, Summer, Spring? Or was it that when taking the picture, the seasons were arranged from the participant's point of view and not the audiences? I think rearranging them so that they are in the order in which they pass during the year for the audience would have more effect - so essentially something like Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
As Debbie said also, the poses are slightly lacking.
Winter is perfect, like an ice queen and ballerina. You can imagine movement from her pose. You can imagine her dancing around in winter, spreading a cold chill and ice but at the same time, in such a captivating way that you wouldn't wish to miss it.
Spring also, her pose brings forth that cheekiness that you imagine coming from young animals as they learn to walk and fly. You can imagine her skipping about and frolicking with the lambs and laughing. It creates a scene in your mind.
Autumn and Summer though, the poses seem more forced and I can't imagine anything from them. I feel like, with her arm raised in the arm, Summer is mimicking Winter too much (which also kind of creates a frame around Autumn which cuts Spring out and makes her seem more seperate from the other three). Perhaps a more thrown back dancing position would be better: one foot set in front of her as if she were lunging forward as her back arches and arms thrown out behind her (if that makes sense).
I'm not sure what I would suggest for Autumn but definitely something with more passion, more movement as Autumn has plenty of movement. It has wind and it has leaves falling to the ground. A pose that could incorporate that movement would be good.
Lastly, the background. The pipe and corner in the wall draws my attention to the background when it shouldn't be there, it should be on the four seasons. A plainer background, or one more representative to nature would be good as it feels a bit odd to have the four seasons locked up inside what appears to be an old building of some kind.

An aesthetic assessment as it strikes me - hopefully of use to you:
In comparison to the amount of detail in the three other seasons Summer's costume somehow seems flat and lacking in something. The colours seem more limited and winter-ice, autumn-leaves, spring-flowers Summer.....? There doesn't seem to be a tangible symbol of summer beyond colour. The Hair of Summer especially appears unfinished - while the others all have some degree of their symbols worked into their coiffure Summer doesn't and this reduces her in terms of the costume detail that the others really work. The association of persian/middle eastern clothing and desert/heat feels a bit automatic. While there are elements of the natural
The shoes of Spring also seem to be a bit out of place in terms of the dance slippers or the others but this could be an allusion to the flibberty-gibbertness that is associated with the season.
I have to day that Winter is by far my favorite of these four - the nuances of blue and white worked really well, as did the palid makeup.
Skin tone wise Autumn looks wonderfully russet. I would have loved to see a dark skinned Spring - someone with a rich deep skintone would have made those greens pop out more. Green leggings for spring would have been nice too to push the sense of new growth - the synthetic texture of her leggings seem a little off. As do the white sequin shoes.
Having said all the above I wouldn't have stopped and devoted the time it took to write this if your image hadn't caught my eye. Well done.

Mmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhh!
Personaly IΒ΄m not a critic and for that little detail a coment here canΒ΄t be considered realy a critic. The perform and characterization or personification act from somebody needs more than just a good outfit or alegoric details applied at somebody so easy likes... "Yeah! I got a cape, IΒ΄m a super guy indeed!"
Nah! greeks had their personifications at each season, among them I just can remember Vertumno( Personification of autum ) and Flora( Cibeles dauhther ) and personification at the spring. Girls looks tremendous cute and each among them giving their own style and performing not pretending be...
All and each of them likes the seasons at the year are giving us a particular feeling or an emotion from their feets at their hairs trought the use of many single materials for a creative process more complex than just some colors or tiaras with a detail in their heads. They are giving with their styles and personlities a particular kicker and sigificative effect with lovely unique poses and lovely faces for us.
Greeks also used masks for amplify the actors voices and gives a feeling of specifycal characterization during their representations... the make up and individual cuttie details at each by their own individuaity what can be their own voices tesitures and tones complete the whole personification and apretiation for each and one at them! They are adorables and You made a terrific awsowe work for those outfits caught our senses and minds!
Many times I said the artists have the quality of take an idea and caught our sensibility with an unknown amount of talent and artistycal perception what they shares with everybody in the red transforming the traditional arts in a colective experience seducing our eyes and touching our souls with a fading effect what remains inside and within us by those creative beigns likes You! Just I likes known a bit more about each actress in this pic... if at least they have pages in DA or another site in the web.
Is a colorfull and plenty of life fantasy materialized by those designs developed by You for those gals! Really, really nice and wonderfull how those arts at the diguises what We beholds give Us a new whole world of posibilities for keept and share... That is a good reason for explore Your gallery and maybe find another treasures likes this one! congratulations and regards!!!

it's amazing but more props eg. spring holding one of those sticks that sheperds have like the one misses bo peep has on toy story would look great with roses and ivy wrapped around it. it would also look better if the poses were more interesting and the facial expressions were more expressive, summers pose and expression is weak. I Love all the costumes except for summer, the dress and mae up make her look very masculine while the rest look rather attractive, winter would look better angry... Spring is PERFECT! And Autumn/Fall Is Amazing But A Cheeky Sideways Grin Would Look Even Better,

I think Winter portrayed herself very well in her costume and character. I feel the others are lacking in their poses but dude. Those are some kick ass costumes! Holy crap I wanna go up close and just geek on the details cause I feel like there's a bunch. Grats on the DD and u totally deserved it

This is really nice, but the picture quality could be better... I would have liked to see more variation of skin tone, and the seasons aren't in the right order. But the costumes are beautiful- I especially like Autumn! And Spring. And Winter.

Winter is my second favorite too! (I really like Autumn, so its my favorite XD). If you don't mind the suggestion I'd consider streaking your hair with the same shade of blue as the bottom of the ribbon. I think it would make your face pop a little more. Of course if you were trying to blend it in then you did a great job. XD

Beautiful women in beautiful costumes! I think you could make it more powerful just by cropping in much closer (dropping that distracting shadow to the right). With portraits it's definitely a good thing to get very close. If you have shots of the individual women, perhaps you could even splice the images togetherwith a very tight crop... if you wanted to be more artsy.
This looks as if it is a bit of a spontaneous portrait... but you should try a crop on your PC and see what you think, since getting so much critique AFTER a shoot doesn't help much now!

i like the winter and the spring the best, summer looks like a genie and i just can't see a genie as a seasonal character very well even if im starring it in the face. And autumn is cool too, but it seems a bit thrown together. But please don't get me wrong i love it all the same!

YES, YES. YES, is it possible that these girls were at Japan Expo 2011 in Belgium? I just checked the video I recorded of them at the cosplay show, is it really them? *Compares again* IT IS, really? I LOVED their act! It was beautiful! I loved it so much! The dances and the music, and the costumes, everything! It was one of the best acts at the whole convention! And these designs were done by you? I loved them. You did a really great job at this! I'm still suprised...I'm so happy I found this, a well deserved DD that I witnessed in action with my own eyes. I'm happy to see them on clear photos too, I just saw details that I didn't notice during the show. Once again, really beautiful, and I'm really glad that I found this! c:
