Description
I had to remove rest of back-board and back-brace to get shield into position.

If you look really closely at top-left pic, you can see back-brace stub's holes with M4 inserts that I fitted before cutting, ready for re-assembly.

Then, the shield slid into place, see top-right. Dot marks where I'll drill and fit a stabilising wall-plug, the long, thru-frame type...

The 'hatch' swung, sat snug around waste pipe. See hinge under pipe in lower-left pic.

And, finally, the over-centre latch engaged. Lower-right, you can see 'plug' repair and heads of two of the four high-tensile M3 Allen bolts grabbing buried inserts, needed after the first skinny screw snapped flush...

Yay !! Room feels warmer already...

After I've fitted the stabilising wall-plug, I'll squirt some expanding foam into the visible gaps to block them. With them safely closed, I can back-fill the main void.

And, then, I'll re-assemble the unit back's parts, re-position the shelf, put everything that lived under sink back in its place.

Oh, and convert RHS door to 170º hinges from current shin-biting 110º style...
