- 6.5 x 9.5 inches which includes a border
- .005 black micron pens, white colored pencil and white gel pen on Earthbound recycled paper.

I've never had much success drawing dragons in the past, so I was pleased with the way this little mini-illustration turned out. I may turn this into a full sized watercolor painting.

Your cross hatching is so precise and controlled to create that smooth gradient effect! I lose patience with cross hatching and I can't keep my hand to make close enough lines so I end up doing scribbles all over.... but this is really smooth. I love it! The fairies in the bg are a nice touch

You should try doing an ink piece with loose scribbling! Making some nice crisp strong lines and using the messy scribbles in a slightly controlled manner to create your gradients.Ā  I've considered doing it before. ^.^ I feel like it could be fun.

I did. ^.^ Well, I sketched it out in pencil first, I'm not that good. XD I used .005 black microns.

Whoa! Reminds me of seashells in the spiral pattern aesthetic you took.

Yeah, a lot of my artwork tends to have swirls and swirly tendencies.

This is lovely ^^ I really like the illustrative style

Ā

By the way, I was meaning to ask you, what scanner do you use? I've been on the hunt for a decent scanner that I can save up for. All the ones I have access to don't read the pale colours and subtle fading on my pictures :s

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

Nicole-Marie-Walker In reply to FenrisxWolf [2013-08-16 15:58:51 +0000 UTC]

Thanks~

And I don't currently have a scanner, I use a camera. I do plan on buying this scanner though: amzn.com/B002OEBMRU

I read a good review of it on a watercolor artists blog. She said it doesn't wash out all of her lights. It isn't a larger format scanner, so if you have a large painting you would just have to scan it in pieces and patch it together in photoshop, or whatever photo editing software.
