So, it's been a while, fellow watchers and watcherettes and what better way to return to the Gallery than bringing yet another illustration (actually a bit of a "warm-up gone too far") from MAD MAX: Fury Road?

I'm sure some of you may remember my previous homage to George Miller's masterpiece: And that came about a year ago when I'd just watched the trailer for the movie. Imagine how I felt after actually seeing it in all its glory?
By now most of you must've read how amazing the film is and I will add my voice to the choir. The landscape, the lighting, characterisation and action are all superb as expected. Tom Hardy makes for an amazing Max and what can I say about Charlize Theron's Furiosa? She's perfect and deserves all the praise she's getting for her performance. But there's a few other details that really caught my imagination and thus I decided to depict one of them.

There's a lot of soul to this film; not that it may be apparent for the folks that get caught just in explosions and the vehicle wrecking (which is awesome, of course!). If you look closely, there's hints of a very well-constructed universe through which Miller explores certain philosophical issues just as viscerally as he does the post -apocalyptic landscape.

"We are not things!" yells Angharad, The Splendid as she tries to flee the incarceration she's been subjected to by Immortan Joe. And it was that phrase, coupled with her relentlessness in defending her child through the desert escape that brought the character up in my list of fascinating details I had to draw. Seldom have I seen a pregnant woman in film do so many things with such dead-serious intent; usually, pregnant characters are just that. They serve as carriers of a child, but here, she's an integral part of the team, doing every bit as much as the rest. Which is true for many other pieces of the puzzle in this absolutely gorgeous masterpiece. Everyone has purpose.

One other thing that really caught my eye was the saturation of the colors. It was so refreshing to see a film depict the stark blue sky with such majesty as well as the sand and rust, that I wanted to give that feeling to this illustration too.
