Description "My name is Max. My world is fire and blood."

If you haven't watched the trailer for George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road, go do it. Now. Seriously.

It's been a while since I posted any artwork, with commissions, pages and several projects taking up all of my time. Yet, out of the myriad eye-popping trailers and announcements at the latest SDCC, something stood out by far amongst the things I anticipate for 2015.
If you know my work, you know that I love post-apocalyptic settings; and it can all be traced back to when I first saw The Road Warrior many years ago. Never had a movie mesmerised me so much with its bleak, desertic landscapes, interrupted suddenly by the roar of the furious engines searching for the ever elusive gasoline. Miller had set in motion a love for this type of settings in me that would only grow with time, eventually leading me to many projects within the same genre.

To be honest, I never thought I'd be so mind-blown as I once was when I saw the original Mad Max trilogy. Until I saw Fury Road's trailer.

This movie, or at least what's been shown so far, is beautiful. Truly, utterly gorgeous. Miller's vision seems to have only improved with time and given the tools, he's now crafted a masterpiece that from the very short trailer we've seen is already being deemed a classic. Hardy's performance looks spot on: The fact that the actor who played the villain in the first movie is back as the nemesis in this one too is just pure genius; and what to say of Charlize Theron? That woman would only have to sprout wings to be any more awesome! Her character, Imperator Furiosa captured my imagination right away: her war paint, the DIY pneumatic arm... it's the very essence of the post-apocalypsis. Its purest form. And so I had to take a couple of hours to give tribute to this amazing vision.

I know we're still a long way to go until the movie can be really measured in its success. But for an old road warrior fan like me, those two minutes have already given him fuel to keep roaming the desert highways of Max's universe.

I hope you enjoy this one and let me know what you think! Were you a fan of the original films? What do you think of the latest trailer?

Have a great week!

Nic.-

Furiosa was a very welcome surprise within the movie; it's really hard to see badass women these days in hollywood that look real. Charlize really brought a lot of strength to her performance.

Same here. I like her character very much as she has good character development.

Charlize is perfect for Furiosa!

That is beautiful. To me Fury Road looks like Road Warrior on steroids, suffice it to say I am excited.

I absolutely agree. I think the key thing here is that it's directed by the creator of the franchise, so it will have everything we loved about it the first time around.

I'm very interested to see how this turns out, I know a few of the stunt boys who worked on it and from what they are saying it's going to be a hugely practical based show which is so awesome to see these days, atmospherically it looks fucking amazing, not sure what the story may do yet but it's certainly going to be interesting.

To be honest, the atmosphere of Mad Max always seemed to me like it WAS the story. You didn't need more depth than to show the struggle of this guy to survive the road. So, I'm confident they'll make it work!

And great to know you have it in good authority that this isn't going to be one of those 'green-background' type of film

Yeah from what I understand other than a couple of dead bodies flying from cars, a couple of those environmental effects and the two headed lizard that trailer is pretty much full live action. So dam nice to see, CG has it's place and works really well on stuff like Apes where there is not really any other way of getting that good a product without it. However on certain other films (cough ones with rings and beards) it's being used to cover up really lazy film making.

I've been a big fan since I was a kid, well the first 2 films at least. Was skeptical about this film...until this trailer. The tone seems perfect compared to Road Warrior, and as long as there's plenty of old school stunt work I will be happy. 2015 can't come fast enough.

I agree wholeheartedly! As I said in another comment, the key thing here is that it's the creator of the franchise the one behind the camera again, so that should provide us with the same gut feeling we got out of the first two back in the day.

I sincerely hope the movie will hold itself together, as blockbusters tend not to do lately. In any case it indeed looks visually pleasing for us post apoc fans.

Speaking of which, I'd really like to see more post apocalyptic stuff from you. It's my favourite genre and I feel it has a lot of sadly unexploited potential.

This is the part where I shamelesly self promote: my gallery is full of it.

There used to be a time when post-apocalyptic was my middle name, Victor... I reckon I should get back to it more often indeed, as it's always a very comfortable place for me and my artwork.

Thanks for the support as usual!
