Description
In 1983, a group of otaku animators created a fan animation for the opening ceremony of the Daicon Nihon Science Fiction Taikai convention. The short featured a young woman dressed in a bunny costume flying through the skies on a sword, with cameo appearances of several science fiction characters from all genres. This celebration of scifi and otaku culture was accompanied by the song ''Twilight'' of the band Electronic Lights Orchestra.The animators who created this short would eventually become studio Gainax.
The song played this morning at work, and so this little drawing came to be.
It's hard for me not to love Daicon IV, considering all it represents and how drenched in 80's juice it is <3

It truly is amazing that an animated short from more than 35 years ago still inspires so much love. And I mean, it's not that surprising, considering how incredibly awesome it is.
