Description
For a good (re)start at DA a quick upload of one of my recent RPG characters, used in my world and RPG system - Tomes of Orbis.

I designed this character as a adventurer with no standard adventurer background and skills whatsoever.

Gabrio was a promising magic student at a respectable academy. His specialisation was magic of knowledge (detection, identification, farseeing etc.). He was considered to be studious, calm and friendly. Although it was all true, one thing nobody learned about Gabrio was that he was also quite prideful. He decided to leave his academy after a new student joined, and almost immediately was appointed for test that would oficially raise his rank. Gabrio, who studied few years to get to that level tried to discourage newbie, but they got into harsh dispute, resulting in contest of magic. My character underestimated both skill and cunningness of his opponent, who was actually a self-learning, adventuring mage for a couple of years, and joined academy mostly to get official title.

After being defeated Gabro got so frustrated, and ashamed, that he almost immediately left academy, and decided to hone his skills a bit in practice, outside of school environment. Soon he found a job perfect for his skills - he joined expedition, organised by merchant hansa from another country, which was to explore small island that was not marked on maps, but apparently used to be inhabited not long ago...

As to his skill - Gabrio has no battle spells, no healing, no buffs nor debuffs. He also didn't had a single battle ability, and not even one skill point put into fighting skills. As someone not familiarised with violence he needs to make a Willpower test on beginning of every battle, or he may freeze in fear for a moment. Normaly you would expect mage to have high Willpower, but since I decided that this will be an unorthodox character, and his background suggests rather otherwise, I put it at low average level.

What Gabrio can do however is scouting, and identification of magical, and non-magical items, thanks to his wide knowledge and a few spells that he learned. He can use "detect life", "detect magic", "chemical analysis", and he started learning astral magic (summoning, contact with another dimmensions), but he is just a beginnier in the last one. All the character point that I got for his flaws I have put mostly in his detection magic, turning him into a walking radar, which was very helpful as other players character had only one eye, and his race has not particularly good sences, and another one was dwarf in ramshackle plate armour. Gabrio knows also few languages which is very useful in world of Orbis which lacks common language that everybody knows.

So there you have it - an unorthodox adventurer, that I really like to play
