The Olympics. My 2nd favorite universal sporting event (behind the world cup). If only they came around more often...I had a lot of fun doing this picture. As some of you may know, I'm not the good at drawing men. This is the first picture I have ever made that actually has decently drawn men (keyword: decently). I was working on this for a long time (2-3 weeks?). Since it's summer vacation, golf practices have been constantly canceled due to high temperatures, and I have this awful sunburn on my legs and chest that prevents me from stepping outside, I've had enough time to work on this.
I got this idea to do it one day while watching some Hetalia (and by the way, I got hooked on Hetalia during finals week-worst time to ever get hooked on something- and it was an overnight obsession...literally. I just woke up one day, suddenly interested in Hetalia.) and I just wanted to do this piece so badly. I don't care if I don't get many likes or comments. I'm just really glad I got to finish this. And I REALLY want to make MORE Hetalia fan art, hopefully starting with France and his outfit he wore around, I don't know, the 1600's or 1700's, the one with the blue overcoat and the three-point hat?
There were a lot of problems of course. For starters, I went really out of my comfort zone and used line art for this. That was terrifying alone. Then I couldn't find Japan's uniform for this year. The one he is wearing right now is from 2008... I wanted to complete this before the opening ceremony started, and I didn't want to waste too much time finding a reference image. Some other mistakes I made were China's face (looks really creepy...), Japan's eyes (at a weird angle), Germany's eyes (I don't even know where to begin.), England's mouth, France's tiny hands, Japan's tiny anatomy, and the fact that Italy actually looks a bit manly.
Just to clear up a few things: America, Germany, and China are wearing their designated uniforms. Italy, Russia, and France are wearing their 'training uniforms' (or the clothes you wear before your event). Japan is wearing his uniform from 2008, and Brittan... what IS her wearing anyways?!?
I'm probably going to take a break from drawing for a day, and then I'll try to get started on that picture of Kagamine Len and Kaito from the song 'Lost Destination'.
Made with GIMP 2.6. There are at least 150 layers (probably 200), and I spent at least 30 full hours.

EDIT: I am a failure. I am currently watching the opening ceremony, and I'm realizing something: how did I get half of the uniforms wrong.....?

But the opening ceremony was incredible! Amazing! I really can't come up with the words to describe it! I was intrigued and awestruck the entire time, and I watched all five hours of it.
ANOTHER EDIT: What the... OVER 1,000 VIEWS?!?! And under three days... ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? Sweetness!!!

Oh but I must point out that I take offense (just joking) to Americas pose, it almost looks as if he's dipping his flag...and we never tip our flag! Especially not for Britain! Lol luv Hetalia!

I loved Britian's outfit it looked so comfy(from the ceromony but here he looks like James Bond so it's still cool), but America serisouly? You look like some prep school kid!

America looks exceptionally awesome! (Ralph Lauren FTW!) China and Germany also are done very well...though I believe the Brit guys had white hoodies, though (I would've done the whole Pearly-King thing for them, though, you know, black jackets and caps with many pearl buttons all over)

The Parade of Nations has always been my favorite, even way before I was into Hetalia. This is great, you did a really great job capturing that moment! I like America in his beret, he is very cute! I really like your Germany, he's very good. I was thinking China kinda looked like Micheal Jackson for a hot second there XD I love it, very awesome!
The opening ceremonies were indeed incredible! The industrial revolution part? Pure awesomeness, not going to lie. I really loved the child nightmare/dream world part too. Very memorable!

The parade was cool, only they cut to commercials EVERY FIVE MINUTES (mainly because earlier there were severe thunderstorms here, and they interrupted those commercials to have the weathermen report about the storm, and now they had to fit those commercials back in...), so it ended up getting a bit boring.
I loved the opening ceremony. That was my favorite part, the Industrial Revolution part. The music was very fitting, and all those people doing the same live action... it was amazing. The other parts though were random, but still pulled off very well. I was cracking up with the queen's entrance, and the performance of 'Chariot of Fire'

I also loved the Opening Ceremony. In fact, I think it's better than Beijing's.
My favorite part too was the one dedicated to the Industrial Revolution (and the countryside scene before that), but the other parts were good as well.
Oh, and the guy in the "Chariots of Fire" segment was Rowan Atkinson (aka Mr. Bean).

Don't worry about getting some uniforms wrong, it's the internet's fault. I was googling Great Britain's uniforms a bit earlier today and all I could find is the suit you've got here, I couldn't find any good images of the white and gold jackets they really wore.
America's looking really spiffy though, those hats are so cute ^^

When I saw them parading down with their uniforms, I was getting really ticked off that the 'official' site for the uniforms was giving their training uniforms in place of the opening ceremony uniforms. Then Great Britain came along, and I was getting so mad, because HOW CAN YOU GET THE HOST OF THE ENTIRE CEREMONY'S UNIFORM WRONG?!? I wanted to punch a pillar... But Iggy would look better in this than he would a white and gold suit.

.....No, they were not wearing all the correct uniforms. Maybe at some point they wear these, but not at the opening ceremony. I wish they were though. I would loved to have seen Russia walking out with that jacket

I see...Quite understandable. We recorded it as well because I would go crazy if my little sister wanted to go back and re-watch a scene. That must be awesome for them to be there at the same time! Did they get tickets? For the 2020 Olympics, they're trying to bring them to Turkey (particularly the city of Istanbul), and if they do, I'm catching the next plane right back to my home city to get tickets
