I'm not kidding. When I was younger, I was very conservative in my thinking. But the reasoning behind it wasn't because it was what I truly believed, but rather because I was willing to sit idly by and let others make up my mind for me. It was just easier that way.
But you know what? I grew up. I asked myself, "What is it that I believe?" And you know what? I found that I did not agree at all with conservative viewpoints, despite being raised in a fairly conservative household.
Now, I'm going to sit back and watch people take this stamp completely out of context, because that's what effect my stamps tend to cause.

I had the exact opposite experience. I was raised very liberal and Democrat-leaning until I got out of the house and "grew up" and realized everyone who had taught me anything was completely full of shit. I now vote/support the conservative/Republican line on practically everything.

It's true, though, a lot of these everythingphobic conservatives are in deep denial about something, whether it's a secret love of frilly stuff and My Little Pony or a caffeine addiction despite being Mormon.

I always thought that particular rule Mormons had was a bit odd - I was raised in a town with a LDS church, and a bunch of my friends were Mormon. I guess it's some rule to never be under the influence or something, I don't quite get it.

It's a rule about "strong drink" IIRC. I don't get it, though, since any variant of "straight edge" doesn't actually make people behave better. If anything, they behave worse than us users-in-moderation because of the self-righteousness and viewing dogma as mattering more than anything else.
Having been in straight edge type communities, I'm glad to be out now. I'm a non-political atheist (I have to clarify this because the atheist movement is full of hateful people like "men's rights activists" and biological essentialists) and there's not really a religious tradition that wants me. I'm too freaky for all the deities and the demons are scared I'll take over

Lol, yeah, I agree with you there. I remember when I was back in high school, I had a drink or two supervised by my parents one night and told a (then) close friend about it. She started going off at me about how I was now an alcoholic because alcohol is awful and blah blah. I understand that alcohol in excess is bad - I have relatives who are alcoholics. But what I absolutely hated was that attitude she had of me afterwards, that she was so much better than I was because she'd never had alcohol, or something. Meh. That was about ten years ago. I'm not an alcoholic now, nor have I ever been. I have drinks once every few months, but even then it's only a glass or two of wine or something. I wonder if she's still uptight and self-righteous about drinking, hm... haha...

I drink socially, and that's just a couple beers once in a while for me. I just don't really get that bothered about it. As for smoking, though, now that I do have a problem with and I wish people would use e-cigs instead of real cigarettes. With e-cigs, you're not gonna make everyone else sick.

That's true! My mom tried e-cigs once, I don't know if she still smokes them because I don't live near her anymore, but they seem like a really good idea. I've personally never smoked - the appeal just never was there (because my parents smoke, I think), but if I had to choose I'd pick the e-cigs over the real thing.
