Step by step - Kuriyama Mirai

Promised guide how I drew Kuriyama-san.

Step #1
Simple skecth. I use different colors for sketch to don't make any mistake. I set some guide lines for good propotions and little perspective.
Step #2
Second step is lineart. I work on about 3000x4000 pixels canvas and I use 8 pixels pen brush for it. I also use different types of stabilizer.
Step #3
Next step is adding base color. Each element I color on a seperate layer.
Step #4
Now I put first shading on a cliping layer above my seperate layer with base color.
Step #5
It's very similar step. Take darker color of the shadow and I put second shading using cliping layer as in the step above.
Step #6
It's time for details. I draw some brighter highlights on hairs, add some soft lights on the clothes and make some effect on overlay layers. Next I drew some wisps for Kuriyama's hairs. In this step I also color lineart to give character more "realism". It makes the character better fits to the background.
Step #7
Now I drew rough and fast baskground. I tried to give many colors and green tones to make background more colorful.
Step #8
At the end I convert my art from SAI to Photoshop and use strong Gaussian blur on the background layer. I do it also with some parts of Kuriyama-san, but not as strong as the background. Finally I put simple text with character name and two decorative lines below.
