Tia has ruled over equestria for centuries, Its probably been an easy 1200 years. The personality that ponies have seen has never really changed, behind closed doors however she was always grief stricken over the loss of her original home and later on her sister.

Both celestia and Luna have had a very powerful distaste for draconequi like Discord. Cosmos (and disord although he was under the influence of Cosmos) was responsible for the fall of the Alicorn Empire, and as a result the very near extinction of the species (Comic in the works for this!! I plan to start properly after my Degree is done).

Celestia is Immensly powerful as is Luna who is still growing. No one in or outside of equestria poses a real threat to her or her sister (Even with luna not being at full magical capacity)

Celestia, Luna and their Brother (More on him here Stallion in the Stars ) are the only Bio Alicorns alive. Celestia and her brother (not luna though, more details on that in her post) are immortal but not unable to die. Royal (being tied to a celestial body or other magical element) Biological-Alicorn Immortality functions through suspended aging (they stop aging at 1000 years and exist in permanent state of being) and they can't die of natural causes such as old age and illness, but can still be killed by external forces (while it is very very difficult). Biological Alicorns will only loose immortality through giving birth, as they essentially pass their immortality to their child.

While Celestia and Luna are often said to be in complete controll of the Sun and moon respectivley, this isnt true however and is a warped truth spread through misunderstanding. The Sun and moon rise and fall on their own without the need for assistance by either sister. Instead they are tied to the sun and moon. So, since Celestia is tied to her solar body she as a result gains much of her strength from it. In the winter celestia is at her weakest and in the summer months she is at her strongest. With the summer equinox or the day of 'The Summer Sun Celebration' being the day that celestia is most powerful out of the year.

Celestias family were royalty in Alicorn Soceity, This meaning that when they come of age (around 150 years is when they start to develop the capacity to draw energy from such a large solar body) they are given their own celestial (Sun, moon, ect) or magical element to draw power from.

Celestia is past the 1000 year land mark and has since kinda just stopped counting. Its likely that shes in the ballpark of 2000 years as of the start of the show.

Biological alicorns like Celestia and Luna have immense magical capacity and as a result have to have a way to expell excess of it. This is why Alicorns like Celestia who are at their maximum capacity for magic have flowing hair. Furthermore Alicorns like Celestia and Luna have distinct markings called Ethereal Markings that can be displayed when the individual is going though extreme emotions, magical excertion or when they simply have an overload of magical power flowing through them (cue over 9000 clip). Its not fully known why Alicorns have this, its said that Starswirl had figured it out and as a result had the ability to exhibit Ethereal markings of his own.

When you stand next to either of the sisters you can feel the power radiating from them and hear a meldoic humm coming from them. (Celestias humming sounds like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRu_hG… )

Celestia enjoys baking in her spare time (she has a heccin lot of it, her being immortal and all) and enjoys the company of Mrs Cake.

Being immortal and all powerful gets BORING AF, Celestia has found her self in recent times allowing various catastrophies to happen such as Discords return, Chrysalis' rampages and the finale of season 9 to add some spice into her life. Both Celestia and Luna could have put a stop to any of this at any time if they had wanted to (Think Beerus just sitting there when he could easily put a stop to everyones shiz). Her subjects (although they had no idea and neither did Twilight and co) were in no real danger.
