Deadlines are the driving force to shoddy work. Wiley hated deadlines, passionately hated deadlines. He was, after all, a genius and such things as producing well engineered, quality robots could not be rushed. As these things have a way of happening, Wiley found himself pegged with a deadline. When working on the Crash Man prototype, Wiley was offered a large sum to create a timber processing bot for the World Forestry Organization. The funds were good so Wiley penned in his name under the contract.

Profitability flooded the mind of the Doc; he already had a viable robot chassis, an ultra dense metal for the timber blades (which could cut through nearly anything) and newly developed targeting software that was twice as accurate in real world conditions than anything else on the market. Prototype R1434M was to be Wiley’s cash cow. However, two weeks before the contracted delivery date disaster struck. The exoskeleton mould was accidentally incinerated (thanks Heat Man) and Wiley was left with his ‘naked’ work force. In haste, Wiley outfitted all units with scrap metal laying around the shop. When the WFO took control of the units, the results were disastrous. These bots were designed to work in tandem, felling trees in a cross pattern to create a single line of debris. The original design was to account for the resulting stray blades that would hit the two bots when working in close proximity. However, the hastily thrown together exoskeletons provided little barrier for the beautifully designed metal blades and bots were decapitating each other within minutes. The WFO immediately cancelled all pending orders and left Wiley with one lone working unit...
