Long ago I was alive just like you
I had a husband, children, and a home
But then I was given the gift of never dying
It was a curse disguised as a blessing
At first I was excited to be immortal
But then I realized I had lost my humanity
As everyone I loved died
And I could do nothing to stop it
I watched as my husband aged and died
My children grew old and died
I will mourn their loss forever
I became a doctor to help others
But even that couldn't ease the pain
Of losing those I loved
And now I regret the gift of immortality
I would give anything to be mortal again
So I could experience the joys and sorrows of life
But now I am forever alone
And I will never know the peace of death
