Okay... so I like raptors. Raptors and corvids make me very happy. So, growing up, it's always been a treat that my place has been smack dab in the middle of a Red-tailed hawk's territory. Now, I'm sure it's been multiple red-tails, but I never saw a dead one, so to me, it's always been 'the same one.' When I was litte, I dubbed him Tobias, nameing him for a hawk in a book series, and always loved to see him. So... it's about time I painted him.So yeah... I swear I'll paint on a canvas or something sometime. Seems all I paint on nowadays are odd things. Okay... so... I've never seen anyone paint on a leaf (That being said, I've never looked) but I can understand why it isn't popular with most painters... they're brittle, and I accidentally put a few fine holes in this one. I found that putting paint on the back in weak areas helped. Origionally, the plan was to add tassles and things to the stem, but after further consideration, I've decided to put that off until the next one I do... this one is just too old and fragile.

woah that's really amazing, I thought it was good even before I realized it is painted on a leaf...very impressive, and creative. I love gum trees, the leaves are pretty and the seeds are cool, too.
there are alot of redtails arround where I live and I have been taking photos of them lately, which is what drew me to look at this in the first place.

Tobias from Animorphs was my favorite, but i always loved Rachel, and i loved Cassie for her sweet nature, i still read them cuz i get bored

I used a Really really small brush for ti... I dunno what size specifivally though. Thankfully I'm near-sighted so I didn't go too cross-eyes... ::Blush:: Thank you...

I think you should keep doing your paintings on objects. It keeps a sense of mystery as to what you'll do next.

That's really cool. I mean, besides it being an awesome painting, and the cool backstory, painting on a leaf is really cool. I've seen paintings on feathers, too. It's all very cool, I think.

People paint on most everything. There's one artist (I forgot who, I'm afraid) who painted on bed linens and things O.o . And gosh, thank you so much!

I imagine it might be a little uncomfortable to sleep on paint, but that's an interesting idea. Painting on stuff from nature is my personal favorite. Leaves, feathers. As long as nothing gets hurt. ^^
