Kiryuu Daisuke is a tormented 15 year old, who foolishly accepts a Shinigami's offer of a "game": If he survives from March 2nd to April 1st, he wins and gains immortality.If he dies, he returs from the starting point. If he loses 150 times, his soul will be trapped in limbo.
He gets the help from some people in his city, but is antagonized by others. Daisuke soon discovers the existence of magic and how it can be made accessible to humans.
