Description Tuffty Bitties, Tamiina Tuffty (c) NanoBanana
Bittybones AU (c) Fucken-Crybaby

=== HOW DO I ADOPT A TUFFTY? ===
You just decide to and do! They are totally and completely free for anyone to adopt, so no need to ask (I'll always say yes). You can adopt as many as you like, just make sure to take care of them. You can write about your Tuffty/Tuffties or draw them, change their clothes, give them accessories, etc. The types described here are like describing the differences between a German Shepard dog and a Great Dane dog. They're all Tuffties, just different "breeds", if you will.

If you adopt a Tuffty, please make sure to credit me for the creation of the species and type. Also, DO NOT adopt them just to kill or maim them (or let other Bitties and creatures kill or maim them). Also also, DO NOT declaw them, crop their ears, or dock their tails! That's just cruel.

=== TUFFTEMBER 2022 ( ~ in January 2023 ~ ) - DAY 19 ===
This type is based on chipmunks (genera Eutamias, Neotamias, and Tamias -- about twenty five species)! Due to the species they're based on, these are arguably the smallest of all available Tuffty types (Rodere, Flitter, and Short-Tailed Armored Tuffties can be this small as well, but their upper height range is greater). Quite a few things surprised me while I was researching this type! Primarily that many species of chipmunks are omnivores and will eat birds, lizards, and such if the opportunity arises. O_O They still prefer nuts, seeds, and berries since they're easier to get, but still. I never thought of a chipmunk eating meat!

Tamiina Tuffty
    Height / Tail Length: 4.0 - 9.9" (10.2 - 25.1 cm) / 2.7 - 5.6" (6.9 - 14.2 cm)
    Ear Type: Small, medium, or long; upright, oblong, and with rounded tips
    Fur: They grow fur on their tails, ankles, feet, and a tuft on their heads; their fur is dense and usually short and very soft; their coloration seems to mimic those found in nature (only natural colors or patterns found on chipmunks from the genera Eutamias, Neotamias, and Tamias)
    Diet: Omnivore (seeds, insects, birds, eggs, fruit, etc.; they aren't picky)
    Favorite Food: Nuts, seeds, berries (anything easy to find and access)
    General Opinion: Mixed.  Most people think they're very cute, but simultaneously they are considered a problematic type. They are most often blamed for severe drops in local bird populations and damaging commercial crops.
    Traits: Usually solitary, adaptable, clever, independent, practical, pragmatic, cooperative, curious, observant, active (but will usually sleep up to fifteen hours a day!), some can be very timid, some may never adjust to or become friendly with humans/Monsters, prefers to avoid trouble rather than seek it out, may avoid engaging in arguments if they can, diligent, forward-thinking, they do things at the pace they prefer, willing to share when food is plentiful (but will hoard in times of scarcity or anxiety), they love experiencing new things when they feel safe, they will rub noses with others they are familiar with in greeting, they will wrap their tail around their favorite person and cuddle with them
    Notes: Moderately territorial, but they tend to live in loose colonies of individuals that get along well enough. Those with litters or litters on the way tend to experience a spike in territorial behavior towards other Tamiina Tuffties while their pups are still young. Donor Tamiina Tuffties do not assist in raising their offspring, but may hang around the area to keep an eye out for danger and predators. Carrier Tamiina Tuffties worry over their pups and experience the most stress when they start teaching their offspring how to forage for food (once they're old enough). Teaching survival skills and practical skills are prioritized above all else. Once they've reached young adulthood, offspring are expected to make their own way and the Carrier can finally relax a bit. Tamiina Tuffties will forage for food for as long as they safely can each day, storing any excess they don't eat in a variety of caches around their area. They don't have a perfect memory however, so sometimes these caches are lost and result in a tree or plant sprouting in a weird spot or some other lucky individual finding it. They prefer coniferous forests, but are a hardy type and can survive in many different kinds of habitats and conditions. Wild individuals, however, sometimes have trouble adjusting to human and Monster settlements if part of their preferred forest is torn down for development. During the summer, some individuals may construct temporary nests in trees (made from leaves and grass) or hollows made by woodpeckers. During the winter, they will create a deep burrow with several chambers for nesting and food storage. Despite living by themselves, they often share this burrow with another Tamiina Tuffty while they either hibernate through the winter or enter periods of torpor (lowered body temperature, slower pulse, slow breathing rate; essentially slowing down their internal processes to use less energy). Tamiina Tuffties are naturally wary of most predatory Tuffty or Bitty types. Tamiina Tuffties are diurnal though some may show signs of nocturnal activity in the summer. They are fast, agile and excellent climbers, able to scale trees and even sheer cliffs with ease. They shed twice a year, once in May or June and then again in October. Due to concerns about the invasiveness of the animals they resemble, these Tuffties cannot be imported or moved into areas that they are not native to. This applies to both wild individuals and those living with or born into human and/or Monster households. In fact, due to the strict legislation, many Bitty Rescue groups can easily be overwhelmed with abandoned Tamiina Tuffties when their human families move (Monsters are much less likely to give up Bitties that they adopt) and that's only taking into account those dropped off at shelters, Care Centers, and rescue group locations. There is also a small, niche demand on the black market for Tamiina fur and some humans sell their Tamiina Tuffties to less than reputable people for quick cash. Tuffty eyelights are round but can have "rings" inside or outside the main eyelight.
    Anatomical Notes: Tamiina Tuffties do not have deep cheek pouches like the animals they resemble and instead choose to wear loose or specially made clothing with built-in pockets that can be closed (to help them transport food while foraging). These Tuffites have pronounced incisors, but these usually don't show when their mouth is closed. They have short and sharp claws on their hands and feet that do not retract and aid in climbing. Almost all Tamiina Tuffties have a distinctive stripe on either side of their face that starts near their nasal opening, passes through their eye area, and ends up at the base of their ears (some individuals may have a second cheek-stripe that ends near their jawline). They can have spots or other markings on their bones that color-match to their fur color or markings.
    Breeding Notes: Litters born between Tuffties will blend traits between the parents. If breeding with another type of Bitty (like Plumies) and the Tuffty is the Carrier Parent, then all offspring will be a Tuffty. If the Tuffty is the Donor Parent, then all offspring will be the same type as the Carrier Parent (no hybrids!). Tamiina Tuffties can inherit colors and patterns from other Tuffty types, but not other Bitty types (like Plumies) and they will usually have the facial stripes if one or more of their parents have them.
