Alas, a fresh tome to begin fresh thoughts. So long I have worked towards this moment. My last was my first, bestowed to me when I was but an initiate millennia ago. It is only through much time and devotion that I have reached my current status as Idoneus exemplar, where I could earn the privilege of a new, freshly bound tome for my new duties. I feel only gratitude and humility, and wish only to continue to serve in guiding initiates on their path of devotion.

It’s been so long since I have had the privilege of this many free moments, I suppose I should introduce myself. I was granted the name of Opinel, though now very few will use that name. It is only proper and polite to use one’s title, not to mention it is a means to emphasize unity over individualism. Too much focus on the self is but a gateway for selfishness, and the sin of pride.

I am settled now in my new resting quarters, situated several floors higher in the arx than those I now guide and watch over. I enjoy the different perspective. To see the city of Luxacastra in a new perspective delights me. A blessing of the holy word, no doubt! It only serves to humble me more, and envelop me in gratitude.
