Description EDIT: There's a new version of this map at [link] ! Check it out. :EDIT

This is the world-map for Project Ysi, which also includes the story King of Nowhere, and the Phelthiê script.

This map setup is based on these [link] kinds of pre-modern maps, where the two hemispheres are shown with a round projection.

For the projection, I used Stereographic, of course using G.Projector. Like Barbie said, "The application of cartographics maths is hard!".

The design is haphazard, but there are SOME design-tectonics involved.

The numeral system is... Interesting. It is base six, but there are twenty-and-a-half-dozen numeral signs, which are used, for small numbers, in a semi-positional manner, except that the orders of magnitude are marked by using separate numerals. When we get to big numbers, the system turns positional and bijective (because there is no zero numeral). For example, the red numeral that is always on top is "500", which is 180 in base six. The degree system in Ysi is 360, because it's actually a pretty damn cool number in general.

I also made up a new small signature, which is Ysi-specific: in the lower right corner is the signature of Thilengha. The red are archaic cursive logograms (on which the Phelthiê script is based on), with a furigana-style transcription in green to its left. Thile-ngha translates simply as "lakeback", a calque of Järventaus.

The cosmology of Ysi is not like ours, but you can't see that from the picture of the Solar System in the lower left. In addition to this Solar System, the cosmology of Ysi is strange, because there is one more further level of orbital hierarchy beyond "star" in it: most stars usually orbit a larger yet object, but I haven't yet decided what these are. They might just be empy epicentres, for that fantasy flavour! Furthermore, most stars are much closer to each other than in our world; the sky-map of Ysi is ever-changing, as the stars orbit around Object Xes, and the parallax of the Xes themselves can be seen by the naked eye... By now, I probably have offended every astronomer and N-problem enthusiast who is reading this. At least I didn't go with a geocentric cosmology!

You could say this world is near the galactic core.  Astronomy there would be unpredictable, by our standards.  Bright, though.

It's really nice, different and I put it in my collection just so I can really enjoy it when I'm in a better shape of mind. Still, I love it already.
