Remember your first time playing Skyrim, before you installed 200+ mods, when you could still stomach it without Alternate Start? And remember, after escaping a proper clusterfuck and having a nice stroll through the woods with either That Swede from the Cart or Skirt Man, you end up in this little town? And as you're trying to get into the store to sell the several thousand pots and pans you picked up, this weird elf- with quite possibly the ugliest ponytail you've ever seen- waltzes up to you and accuses you of speaking to some idiot named Sven?

And then he starts relaying to you, a complete, blood-covered stranger he'd just seen follow a soldier into town, all about his lady problems and ongoing rivalry with a tone-deaf bard. And he wants you to go into the shop he's been blocking the door of this whole time and give some half-assed, fake poem to a woman that had probably heard him talking to you through the door. At this point, you start to think that this dude's a little fuckin' bizarre.

But then you remember you're playing a Bethesda game and say "what the hell, easy quest for me". So you give the woman the note, who actually falls for it, and Faendal becomes your indentured servant for the rest of his life. Literally. Because the dumbass went charging at three Spriggans and their pair of bears as you ran for your level 5 life all the way to Riften.

And yet somehow, I developed a soft spot for this moron. Just not for his ass-ugly ponytail.
