Description
The Ghoughnous (phoenix) is the sacred bird of the myth of Iranian, Greek, Egyptian, and Chinese mythology.
In Persian mythology, Ghoghnous is derived from the Greek word koknos κύνος / kúknos, meaning swan, the Indo-European equivalent of the Chinese phoenix.
It is said that he is a rare and lonely bird with no mates or offsprings. But once every thousand years, it flys on a large pile of firewood, singing. When its song brings joy to Ghoughnous, it kindles a fire on its beak, burning itself in that fire where from it an egg emerges. After the egg burns, from its ashes another phoenix is born.
Phoenix is considered a symbol of immortality and longevity in most cultures. But a symbol of immortality and rebirth in some other cultures. In Iranian literature, the phoenix is depicted very impressively, the beak of the phoenix is thought to be like a reed, long, beautiful and clustered and has a hundred holes on it, each of which has a special mysterious sound.
