I had to take a break from some school stuff, so i started doodling something that I thought would look friendly and sorta welcoming if i looked back to this time. So, June taking a selfie! I mostly made it for my FusionFall reblog/research/rambling blog, fusionjune.tumblr.com where you can find more stuff like this maybe.
So i've been doing some redesigns and au drawings and posting them there instead cause I don't wanna clog every other art blog with this fanart. Some of my good fandom friends reminded me how great it is to talk and imagine stuff like Alternate verses or redesigns tho, so I wanted to post this here too~ You know who you are, glad to be friends with you and hope y'all like this~

This specific outfit I've drawn before and tried to simplify it to the point where it could be adapted into a 3d model or drawn animation, been really thinking about what a follow-up to the cartoon would have been like or a continuation to the FusionFall game. There's no belt this time(it had "viking" X's on it) or hood or almost anything that would be maybe too much to draw for other folks. There's no boots or her bracelet shown here, which were just left out because of the framing of the picture. tho i guess I could make it more armor-like the next time I draw it. I just thought that if June is older in the game's verse.... She should look more different, even if just in fanart or fan AUs.
Oh, I also forgot her hairstreak! But y'know what, other te xuan ze's in the show, like Kai Yee and Ray Ray were shown to not have one either so...... I'mma just leave it be and hope people recognize her anyway haha
....which feels kind of like a joke because honestly, it's not like hair makes the character? There's been discussions about why there's a trend among western live action and animation to include a colored hairstreak in the designs of east asian women characters.... and just thought I'd leave it out again, because in the drawing stage I already do that plenty enough, so why not. I feel like the hairstreak thing is definitely worth discussing and more research could be done on why it has become a trend, in live-action especially. Does it imitate real-life or is it just Hollywood showing it's racism? I don't mind it on June though.
I know there are a bunch of reasons why June has it (slightly based on Judd Winick's wife, Pam Ling + show seems to suggest that every Te Xuan Ze has it to some extent) but that's a talk up for another time maybe.

I like this one thing a Secret Saturdays friend of mine said about that and the show in general:
"When will people stop looking at Juniper Lee as a concept and judge after watching One Single Episode"

If anyone has any suggestions, I can draw a Fusion Fall friend of June's there! Someone like, Zak, Gwen, Rex, Ben.... anyone!
