I'm guessing the hair streak thing is because most East Asian schools do not allow hair dye or piercings, while in school, and those who did do that were thugs, rebels, Americanized, ganguros, etc.

In Junoper's case, it really stands out, like Blossom's bow, or Raven's chakra.

This is a strong pose, I'm digging how strong she looks in the pic.
Like Jakehunter commented, what's the program you use?
Sai, Photoshop, Mangastudio?

Hmmm, I just realized I could have probably made a process/progress sequence for this. Maybe I should?

Aw, thank you so much, I'm so glad those things come through!
I used Firealpaca for the whole process up until adding the stars and gradients in the bg, medibang paint for those last touches
They are both pretty similar as the latter is a fork of the first, but have a bit of a different community built around them and MBP is meant for emulating manga workflow in general, while in FA it is possible to animate now! I find them both really useful and a bit better for drawing than Photoshop or Sai. Plus they're both free, haha :'D Dunno about MangaStudio, but I've heard great things about it!
I've been using FireAlpaca since about... 2012? and it's been really great so far, they've added so many things that really help with digital art-making like this : D I didn't really like using it before that, but it has really come a long way, the basic drawing tools are nice. This for example was made entirely with the default brushes and I think they served me well that time
Oh, and I made a blog last year where I've been collecting brushes and tutorials for both, it's kind of nice as an archive: fpacatuto.tumblr.com

I've never heard of FireAlpaca, though the site is familiar, it's weird.
Anyhow, that's really wonderful and impressive.
Also I like the linked picture too. It reminds me of a D&D character.

I used Firealpaca to draw+color her! the stars and background are in Medibangpaint. Google them, they're really good for drawing and in Firealpaca, you can even animate!
