Many, many peaceful people were slain in order to find one who would be a suitable vessel for this vicious, calculating elemental overgod, all in the sake of stopping the Shadow King's Ruby Wars that are savaging the Hegemony's soldiers and destroying their standing armies one by one.... wars that, some would argue, was started by rhe Hegemony itself when they sought the creation of a powerful being to use as a superweapon in the Forge of Shadows.
