Teaser for our After Eight pocket (for OpenMinded Doujinshi. It will have a strong yaoi theme)Technically this is a WIP because I will be repainting several things. (enlarge the eye, tone down the fullness of the lips and correct the perspective)|
Still had a lot of fun painting this and figured I'd share.
The text is because it was featured on our site's Advent Calendar

Gato and Jay will get a full colour story set in the gangster era in the '20's which I hope to complete late 2010

The edibleness, or edibility, or 'eetbaarheid' if you like, is...frighteningly high. o_O But I told you already, about five times...heh. Please send me a very simple sketch of the guy's hair so I can start doing nice things to him when I make the commission!

I'll send you some sketches! His hairstyles vary, and since he can work his magic easily to adjust it, you'll have quite some artistic freedom.

I think toning down the lips would be a good idea, they're the first thing I saw when I opened the picture, and my first thought was, "Biiiiiig... and shiny!"
The eyes and skin tones are beautiful, though. The eyes really stand out, which is impressive since it's such a dark piece.

Phew....half of the people says the same about the lips, the other half is charmed by them and doesn't want me to change it.

The skintone was great to paint. The colour choices just happened to have a right feel and like the rest of the world...I LOVE painting eyes haha ^__^
When I look at him now, he doesn't feel as 'fitting' to the character anymore as to when I just finished, but It sure was a good way to start getting there

^_^ thanks. It'll be a while before the comic will see the light of day. A finsihed work at the end of 2010 is a rather optimistic thought since it will have a painterly feel and I will have to save up since I'll have to pay for the colour prints which are too much to break even (But this story, I can only see it in colour. Black and white would not do it justice)
It's a labour of love because I'll never earn any money with it, but it's worth it.
